Best Oil For OZ?

Best Oil For OZ?
I'm not sure if this is in the right place or not, but I've gotta try to change my oil next weekend and I was wondering what tools I need (I've got some ramps and an oil pan) and which oil would be the best to use? I've got about 48000 miles on it. I'm tired of the stealerships crap regarding this! Especially when they almost gave me an EVOs oil change and oil change price! Any and all help would be greatly appreciated and thanks again!

tools: ramps, wrench, rags-lots of rags, oil filter and oil
I think K&N is the best oil filter around, AND it has the nut on the end so you can take it off with a wrench if need be. I just had to use some gloves and a little strength to get the filter off, sometimes you need sandpaper to get a grip on it.
Mine takes just a hair over 4 quarts, so I usually buy 5. its always better to have some left over than worry about running dry.
As for oil: can't help ya since the supercharger takes different oil than stock n/a lancer, but I like castrol gtx

OK, I'm big on name brands and all that, but here's the honest truth.
It doesn't matter what oil you use, as long as you change it often enough.
It's all about clean lubrication. If you believe a company's claim that it lubricates better, then try it. But really, it's just about protecting the engine's parts.

well, that may be true to an extent, but different companies put different detergents/polymers and pixie dust into their respective oils, so that would make a difference.

I just changed the oil @ 50k with Castrol 5w-30 full syn with a Fram tough Guard filter. BTW, anyone know what is the K&N model # for the oil filter? Always wanted to try it out sometime.

filter is kinda expensive compared to others, but I like it. it also has a nut on the end, so when you take the filter off if its really tight, no problem, just loosen it with a socket.

I've been using Royal Purple for a while and I like it. Can't say if I gained HP of not, but the car feels right... so
