Taking foot off gas when "shifting" with CVT

Hey, oddly enough I have never had an automatic car. I just picked up a gts with CVT since all of my driving is in traffic and I am sick of clutching (figured it kinda has a manual hehe).

Anyways, my question is whether or not you have to take your foot off of the gas while shifting in manual mode for the CVT. Im guessing you dont, but is it better for the car to do so?

Nope. Keep the hammer down.

I have not read anything from that says it will damage the transmission or anything like that.

dont let it go... there's no clutch to work with .... the "sem--auto" is just "sliding" to the fixed a pre-determined gear ratio

i used "slide" cuz there's no gear involved... just involves 2 pulleys

In CVT mode, "if" you forget to paddle shift while during a WOT run will it still shift for you or will it bang off the limiter?

If you don't upshift, the CVT won't do it for you. It only downshifts.

I will head this one off before the triple AAA fire starts.

our car maybe from different areas and may have different logics programed into the Transmission ECU, it is totally possible for both you to be right. of course i dont venture close to my readline

I havent done it before and remember children, max power occurs at about 4500. Your mivec has to operation modes, high and low, your peak power in low mode is about 2500k. of course i am refering to Torque figures (pull) but max hp is at the 6000k or so.

even now, aftermarket developments to make over rides or map more pre defined transmission logics. things like a Max TQ profile to lock the transmission at 4500 until car speed clears the efficency for pulling to achieving max hp.

CVT is sick, if its done right. sadly you wont see these features coming from Mitsu (factory)

I accidentally redlined my car for about half a mile because I wasn't paying attention and I forgot to shift. It doesn't shift up for you.
