02-03 Manual Transmission Limits?

Hey,

I was wondering what the limits are on our stock mt transmission.

I was also wondering what gear oil people use to get the most out of their ride because its about time to change mine.

Last, is there much we can do to our mt's to upgrade in any way? other then, get a lsd for $1000. haha

thanks everyone

You're best bet would be to have TRE rebuild it stronger for you:

Do the obvious clutch, PP, and FW upgrades. Fluid flush too. Then from there, minus the LSD, can could heat-treat the synchros and gears. Are there any known issues with the shifter forks breaking or bending?

Well the PR guys are running 400hp and 500hp through their transmissions on 4G69 engines. So I think we'll be good on our lower hp 4G94 engines since the transmissions are the same.

As far as I know they only add an LSD and go with upgraded clutch and flywheel. You might want to shoot a couple of them some PMs. You might even ask RRM and RPW what they feel is the weakest link in the F5M42 transmission and if they have broken forks, rails or synchros with some frequency.

I know this is an old thread but I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with TRE and also whether it would be better to rebuild my current trans or just buy an entire tranny used.
