tranny dipstick is stuck
Hey guys...I noticed some slippage when my car is shifting. I have a 2002 automatic OZ lancer
I wanted to check the fluid and add some if necessary but I couldn't remove the white dipstick for the ATF fluid. It comes out but then it gets stuck.
I tried it with the car running and in neutral just like the manual says but no go
why is it stuck????

erm get that fixed guys, just go to the dealer. i might have to pay out of the pocket tho, because of some bs warranty shiznit about going over 15k miles a year..and trust me, the problem does not go away just by adding ATF.
and about the dipstick being stuck..i dunno what to tell ya lol. did u try twisting and turning it and maneuvering it? u can always take it to the dealer..

when you say get that fixed, u mean get the transmission fluid flushed? cause I can flush it myself but if I can't get the dipstick out then it might be a little hard to add fluid afterwards. the dipstick comes outl ike maybe a foot and then just gets stuck
i'll try again with the turning but it didn't seem like it was doing anything

fixed does not only mean getting the ATF flushed. i mean get it checked by my transmission is doing the same thing. i havent checked in with yet, but will do so soon so i can give you an update on this problem because many auto tranny lancer owners seem to have this problem. btw, i have 43k on the car, it started around 35k maybe? not sure.

so the automatic tranny is prone to having problems this early on in its life? isn't the drivetrain covered under waranty longer then the rest of the car?
so your dipstick is stuck also or are u just noticing some slippage?

don't return it...the car it came from was involved in a front end accident or accidently the tranny dipstick got bent
just grab the dipstick and pull it toward the front of the car
should solve problem or just remove pan and buy a new shaft for the dipstick
best of luck

An auto trans that slips has a problem. Not just low on fluid. Besides, unless the trans is leaking, it shouldn't be low on fluid. Slipping on a trans that's loaded with miles is usually worn out friction parts (clutches, bands etc). Early in life, it's usually a control problem (valve body, solenoids etc). The clutches and bands should hold the gear sets, if they don't, there is a problem. Driving while it slips ruins any chance that the clutches/bands are good. BTW unless you have expensive equipment, you CANNOT flush the transmission COMPLETELY. The only way to get ALL the old fluid out and fill with ONLY new fluid is to take it to a trans shop, the torque converter does not get emptied otherwise.
