Kamikaze DP and RRM CAT Help

On the 2004 Lancer ES it looks like I will have to cut the downpipe to get the CAT welded to my Kamikaze DP. Wish I could have found that when searching. My question is: Could I buy RRM's Highflow CAT and since it has flanges on both sides, bolt the DP to that? Either way I will probably be looking at the same price. But would rather buy the CAT from RRM and not hack up the stock equipment in case I sell and part out the car. Thanks.

I got Kamikaze with DP and I didn't have to cut anything to connect it to my stock cat. Get a cat that's already flanged for the Lancer and you shouldn't have any problem.

But the problem with the 04 is the stock DP is the same pipe the cat is on. There is only a flange behind the cat. The Kamikaze's I bought off Ptuning.com also came with a kit for it to fit the 04 lancer. The kit is basically a test pipe without the flanges or O2 bung welded in. So I am assuming that I could buy the Magnaflow cat off RRM and it would work.

Fuuuuucking siht so here goes. Removing the stock DP with the o2 sensor still in. I was trying to remove the o2 sensor from the cat when all of the sudden the whole DP falls. I thought I had snapped the wire. Come to realize, the fcking sensor had a male end and had come out of a hole in the frame where the fcking impervious female end rested. I CAN'T GET THE FCKR OUT FOR SHT! I'm thinking if I pull the carpet up on the passenger side I can get to it.

What will happen if the rear o2 is in the pipe but not connected to the car? Anything detrimental besides a CEL?

Update on the o2 sensor being unplugged. Removing the shifter console and cupholders, pull back the passenger carpet about a foot or less. You can clearly see the female end of the o2 sensor. Thank god.

Ok so I got them both on fine after having that test pipe welded. Problem is, it is loud as ******* hell and smells like ******* at the end. I started a WTB Post for a 2002 - 2003 stock cat or RRM magnaflow cat. PM me if you are selling one.

But in other words, if any 04 guys are going to do this, have your sht ready. You'll need new gaskets of course, and remember you need an extra one as you are making another connection in the exhaust system and will also need two more bolts and nuts as the stock ones are built in and not reusable. This is still possible to do in your driveway for 04 guys, just do some planning.

Awesome, I am assuming that if I bought a 2002- 2003 cat it would bolt right up with the DP and MP. The test pipe just isn't working for me. Too damn loud hahah.

yeah thats what i heard, and too poluting. lol, but the magnaflow hfc that rrm sells should bolt right up to the dp and mp. i have it on an 02 lancer, so as long as mitsu didnt change the flange on the exhaust, it should.

Ha I guess the good thing with these headers now is I can buy any 02 or 03 Lancer catback. Just have to bend the hangers a bit to make sure of the clearance. Don't know how much longer the new Lancers are if they are at all.

i think that they are about 4 inches longer, a pretty big difference. im not 100% sure, but if you want to know, ask xtianLANCER04. he put on the kamikaze header/dp and greddy evo2 exhaust and had to have some fairly extensive custom work done.
