Headlight alignment question version 2.0
last time on "Headlight alignment question"...
purecoda was having issues trying to adjust his headlights. many people used the hand bulb-placement technique, other aligned them by the sheer power of the mind. finally, someone tinkering with an actual headlight claimed there was a milky-white knob that had a screw under it, that adjusted the headlights, but that knob wouldn't come off...
my new headlights are BLINDING. even after having adjust them, the "low" beams are high, and the "high" beams illuminate the folliage in the trees. you'd be amazed at what i've learned about nocturinal squirrel behavior, but that's an OT thread...
does anyone TRULY know how to align the headlights without going to the dealer. my dealer is a pro at everything else, but can't seem to get this right. if you actually know how to align them, PLEASE let me know.
thanks.

I believe this is from the Mitsi service retrieval site http://www.mitsubi****echinfo.com/epacarb/
HEADLIGHT AIMING
PRE-AIMING INSTRUCTIONS
Inflate tires to proper inflation
Adjust with full tank or put weight in trunk
Only load in vehicle should be the driver or 150 lbs in driver's position
Clean headlight lens
Adjust with car on level service 25 feet perpendicular to wall or screen
Rock vehicle side to side and up and down to allow vehicle to assume its normal position
Four lines of tape or markings on wall
1. Vertical tape aligned with the vehicle center line.
2. Horizontal tape aligned with the center-marks on the headlight lens
3. Tape corresponding to the distance from the center line of the vehicle to each headlight center.
HEADLIGHT ADJUSTMENT
1.The low beam headlight should project on the screen just below or at the horizontal line.
2.If not the case, turn the adjusting screws located on top and behind the lens through a hole just medial to the inside headlight bracket
There is only one adjustment for the vertical since the horizontal aim is preset.
The instructions mention when adjusting one headlight, disconnect the other headlight harness.
Also do not cover a headlight for more than three minutes to prevent the plastic headlight lens deformation.
High-beam pattern should be correct when the low-beams are adjusted properly.

Hope this helps and hope this doesn't in anyway fracture any copywright laws as it is not my intent to do so. Sorry for any confusion regarding the above posts but I had to edit them to omit any copyrighted material. whoops
EDIT: Better yet do a search for the thread "HIDs aimed too low?"

thanks dr. ray.
looks pretty straight-forward, as long as i can find that screw. i did find something strange on the headlight when i was inspecting it today. above the bulb there is a little rubber grommet that comes off to reveal a little screw with a pink tab on it. i'm wondering whether or not that's the screw they're talking about or not.
if anyone has any pics, i'd appreciate those too. that way we can sticky this thread as an instructional "how to align your headlights".
if i figure it out tomorrow, i'll post some pics.

ok. if the top screw is to do that. what is the other screw on the opposite lower side to do? because my headlight look funky- theyre aligned to the same height, but one aims a little to the right and has some weird behavior to where the beams shine..i'll get some pics up in a few minutes or so. the little plastic piece on the bottom of the light(which a lot have painted black to make the black housing effect) is a little bowed in one headlight, and straight in the other.. any suggestions?

yeah..the thing is. it was replaced. i got in an accident so they replaced the whole hadleamp assembly. the first one (came with the car) was fine. the second one sucked(it leaked at bowed). now my 3rd assembly is ok. no leaks but hte bow!
