I guess I haven't burned the clutch enough for a new driver then .
My dealer told me something about the new Cat that will release an odor in the beggining. So it's the catalytic converter then.

Is it the Cat? I hear Corollas have hte same smell and that it comes from the cat.

It could be things breaking in if the car is new. I sounds like an exhaust issue though.

same problem here usually happens if i push the car hard and i havent warmed it up enough. its really embarrassing though lol especially when u know the person driving behind you and they call you complaining

wow! really surprised nobody mentioned gas. almost every mechanic ive talked to said if u put s#it quality gas in, u will get that rotten egg smell. now with gas prices the way they r, i dont blame anyone for finding the cheapest price possible. ive always used either chevron or 76 and have owned 8 or 9 cars so far 2 of which were new and have never had that smell. my wife when we first met was using some off brand gas station and the first time i road in it the smell was overwhelming, long story short she started using the same i do and the smell eventually went away.

almost exclusively use Chevron in my car... and I had the smell the first time I took it out on a 'hard' run... after that it's been "normal".

i havent heard of that but yeh i only use super in mine so i think its prob the breaking in of the cats

Why on earth are using super in a car designed for regular? If the car isn't tuned to use it, you're just pissing money down the drain and potentially doing damage to the cats.

When you accellerate hard and the car is not fully warmed up, you will sometimes get that rotten egg smell. The cat needs to work at a certain temerature to effectively burn the exhaust gases. Some of the older cars used to throw a check engine light at slow cruising speeds on freeways because the cat would slightly cool and get below it's operating range. I guess what I'm saying is you should be fine unless the smell does not go away, in which case, your cat is probably going bad (or your running a test pipe and not telling us).

Modern day emission systems do not need a lot of time to warm up and become effective, hell most are pretty much operational as soon as you start the car up.
