GTS Amp not working

Hey guys my kid sister has a 2008 Lancer GTS with the rockford fosgate system, but the amp **** the bed on her and the dealer wants to charger her over a grand just for a new amp. I've been trying to find specs on the factory speakers so I can just replace the deck with a better aftermarket deck utilize the existing speakers including the sub in the trunk and run everything off 2 sets of aftermarket amps. Any help will be appreciated

If it is still under warranty (which it should be) the dealer should be covering the cost of the amp. Factory presets on factory stereos limit the signals the factory amp gets. If the amp blows even with factory presets, then it should be a warranty replacement.

Also I wouldn't recommend running aftermarket amps on stock speakers. The speakers will definitely blow.

the dealer is trying to tell her it might not be covered under the warranty and i wasnt sure if the factory speakers would be able to handle an aftermarket amp since they are considered to be rockford fosgate grade

They are "graded" as rockford components but they have different specs than their normal inventory.

Here is some insight from rockford that can probably be extended to the rest of their OEM equipment. This link talks about how the sub and amp are matched and that it won't work with aftermarket subs. Can most likely be extended to the speakers, and in your case, an aftermarket amp powering stock speakers.

It should be under warranty since there is no way that with factory presets that the amp would blow. Now if you used a sound processor, that's a different story...
