does your car start instantly?

When I start my car, I noticed that it takes a couple of kicks before it starts. does anyone have the same problem? or is it a problem? When I drive my gf's '00 accord, the starting of the engine is instant, but why is my '02 oz taking a couple of kicks before it starts? man... When I just got my car i didn't have that problem... I don't know... Either I'm really ****, or my car is not feeling good. either way i'm sad. can someone help?

My favorite advice...

Strip it bone stock and take it to the dealership. Mine responds as quickly as I turn the key. So have the few others I've heard/driven.

I hope it's just that you're really ****. That way you don't lose your car for an extended amount of time. BTW is it auto or 5spd?

my car takes a couple cranks too before it start, and not just in the cold either, i'm not sure why, maybe its just more delayed than other starters, wouldn't hurt to have it checked, i just haven't had time

Yeah...basically if you have the time it can't hurt to get it checked. Anyway I doubt it's a problem, but better safe than sorry.

Long starts could be a number of things. Before you go to the dealership you should check a couple things yourself. Fouled or overgapped spark plugs can cause the engine to fire up slowly when the engine is hot or cold.

If you can't get it to start up quickly when the engine is already warmed up, it may be a clogged air filter.

Also may want to check the fuel system, unless the car runs perfectly fine after you get it started.

Always look for the 3 main things. Air, Fuel and Spark.
