Removed/Cleaned K&N Air Filter, car now louder
I purchased the K&N Air Filter for my 2.4L GTS about a year ago. I cleaned it about a month ago following very specific instructions. After putting the filter back into the car, I noticed my car was getting louder. It sounds similar to having a hole in the exhaust.
It didn't sound right, so I put in the stock air filter. The sound is still there. I notice it at both low and high RPM's. Not sure what is causing this sound since it's now noticeable using either air filter.
Anyone have an idea what is causing this issue?

when you took out the filter the bottom of the box came undone, there is a latch where it locks in place and secures the lower portion of the box closed....this is very common, when you take out the filter and put it back you have to make sure the bottom is latched then carefully slide the filter back in...
go ahead and take a look and put that k&n filter back in there, it definitely isnt your cause for the noise.
