Ok... part came in today... asked a bit about it... It is computer controlled... notice how the light dimms when the car door is shut and fades on and off like when you turn the car off and all... it's all computer controlled... interesting thing, that module also controls the keyless entry remote system. I got the car back today and found my K.E. to be dead... they forgot to re-program the remotes to the new computer... but I used the instructions in this forum to reprogram and it worked... so car's all better.

BTW, to those wondering... the bill came out to being $300, which was paid for by the lovely 3 year/36000 mile warranty!
