Question 4g94 ignition coil melting

Hello,

I have a trouble with an 4g94, what happened is that it started to melt one ignition coil... the first time I though that the coil was bad so i had to buy a new one, so installed the new one and started the engine... after some use the engine died again and the new coil was melted down again

I orderen another coil from another store and installed, run the engine for some minutes and I noticed that the new coil was overheating, so I though that it was an harness problem, I swapped the ignition coils and tested again... and surprisingly again the new one started to overheat... I donīt know why this happened, donīt matter in what plug connect the new coil, it overheat, and the other coil keeps normal...

Why two coils melted and this is overheating? I called to the store and they tell me that there are no other type of coils for this engine, by the way, this coil is compatible for some sort of engines, like Galant 2.0, Eclipse 2.4, Mirage 1.8, etc, etc, etc...

And I donīt know why the another old coil keeps working... even with this unpluged, the another new coil keeps overheating...

Any help? Sorry for my English... I am still learning :S

I had this problem. after rebuild I accidently swapped the coil wire and the crank position sensor fried them both they look exactly the same and are right next to each other.

Measure the resistance of the ignition pins coming from the ECU.
