my car is now making a kinda pining knocking noise when i start it and continues while the car is running but does get softer,, does any one know what that is .....

also my car has 11,000 mile on it and the steering wheel is vibrating like a mother,,, i rotated my tires but still vibrates...any guesses

 

Are you sure the knocking isn't more like a light tapping coming from the block? The 4G9x engines are tappy like that.

The vibrating could be a bad wheel bearing or a shot suspension.

 

no its a loud noise i would even guess that it has something to do with the oil pressure,

not sure about the shaking, it might be because i live in boston..

 

check your oil when your oil level gets low the lifter over rise and start tapping check the oil if it is low put more in and the sound will go away

 

hey liquidlancer, i was lookin through your list of mods, and i saw the Apexi N1 Exhaust, so i did a search for it and i couldnt find any where selling it for the lancer, did you buy the closest and custom fit it?

I can fix your car!!!!!!! The knocking I was told is caused by carbon deposits. This may be BS but I had the same problem. Here was the solution: next time you change your oil run one of those cleaners that removes carbon thru it before refilling oil. You might also consider tossing in some slick 50 or something similiar both of those things used every other oil change has stoppped mine from doing it.

Might be BS but it worked. Dont know how I'd even have unusually ammounts of carbon residue in there since I'm a compulsive oil changer. Id bet this fixes it though.

11k thats means go to the dealer and get it done under warranty.

as for the wheels shaking, when does it shake? i mean it can be warped rotors, misbalanced wheels etc...

 

did the steps suggested by Metalak work, or was it something else? Mine knocks pretty loud when the AC is running, but stops when the clutch is engaged. So, I'll be taking it in soon, but, if those oil additives will work, it might be a little less of a hassle for a little bit of green.

 

Carbon buildup after 11K miles??!! Isn't that a bit sad on a new car? What did you do mysta'lancer? the flush out?

 

acutally it still happens and the belts went on the power stering and i got it fixed but it still hapeens and now when i brake when like going 60 mph it the brake pedal shakes and makes a loud squealing noise.. and when the heat is on like setting one it smells like it is burring rubber???

 

Squealing is pad wear. The shaking is your suspension...not exactly the most adept system for high speed braking. As for the heater...you do realize that it draws in warm engine bay air and filters it? Just engine "funk" smell.
