Car running hot and idles weird

Ok today when i was sitting in my car for 30 mins, i saw some problems. It was running in nuetral. My car temp gauge rose really high to about 70%. I noticed my lancer idled terrible. Every minute or so there would a knocking sound from the motor and it would go from like 600rpms to like 900 rpms and then a minute later there would be another knocking sound and it would drop from 900 to 600. When i got out there was a hot smell coming from the engine bay, which i smell evvery coupkle of days. Whats the deal?

Check your coolant levels. Check your oil levels. What type of monitors (gauges) do you have? Avoid running the car. Too much heat will lead to detonation and your pistons/rings WILL blow easily. Trust me.

Check eeeeeverything that was installed. Eeeeeeverything. Good luck.

im retarded, coolant levels were almost completely empty. then looked at the radiator hose and the stupid turbo partially melted it and it is collapsed on itself so the cross-section of the hose now looks like the shape of a peanut shell and close to the same size. that sucks. there should be a pretty easy soultion id think. i would think i just need to measure the hosing size and get some new one at home depot or something.

I've never heard of anyone melting the radiator hose before... that is very wierd. Are you sure it's melted an not rubbed thru. I've never seen either but i've seen a couple people put the hose clamps for the turbo right under the hose and it rubbed in. Luckily it was caught before any damage occured.
