So then the pitfall becomes... am I likely to get the same kinda issues out of a 350awhp Evo8 that I'm getting out of a 420whp 350Z. Cause if so, I'll probably just rebuild the motor and boost the maximum outta these Garrett's.
The evo can handle 350 whp and be daily driven very easily. The research is all done, and it doesn't take any rediculously expensive or extensive mods to do it. The engine (block and head) can handle it, the tranny can handle the power, and an uprated clutch can hold it and still feel light as stock. It doesn't take much money to get to that point (350 whp) either. You already know what the mod bug is like though, it's hard to stop at 350 whp with this car when its so easy to get a lot more out of it.

evos engines have forged internals... i know many daily driven modded evos that have no problem at all. biggest concern for high hp evo is #1 clutch which is common for all cars and #2 tranfer case if you start doing stupid ****.

30k in mods on a car is rediculious dude.....

for example, my friend has

vishnu catless turboback
hks racing suction intake
aluminum intercooler toobs
hallman boost controller
hks 272/272 cams
walbro fuel pump
and a dyno tune @ 21 psi, daily driven

340 AWD horsepower @ 330 AWD tq, stock turbo. extremely streetable. car is SICK.

doesn't street race, but z06 was messing with him too much one day, and he ripped it up to 120 by 4 car lengths.... when the boost hits with the 272's the car does not stop pulling.
1. a "few K" is never gonna make an evo "own" a 420 whp 350Z

2. sorry, but even a 340 whp evo would probably still get beat by a stock Z06. no way would you put "4 car lengths" on one to 120. are you sure the guy was even racing??

You must have stripped out most of the interior to get your 350Z down to 3100 lbs. Stock curb weight is about 3250 lbs.

Just watched your vid and all I can say is "that Z is a work of art." Good to see the money spent well on the mods you have. I wish I still had my old 280zx turbo. Man I love Z cars! I wouldn't sell the car. Like alot of people here are saying, just buy a beater for the winter.

yea i just watched the video also. that cars pulls so damn nicely. i've been considering both of these cars along with a few others and i still dont know what to do. the only thing i didnt like about the new z was that it had no turbo and you fixed that problem. i really dont know what to tell you about what you should do just that you have a great car.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my 350Z. But for the money he has invested, you could get a Z06. I have been out on the racetrack in a modded 350Z, with other modded 350Zs and Z06s. Almost nothing beats a 405+ hp Corvette. Vipers and 911 Turbos, that's it.

There's your problem right there lol. You got cheap *** tires for your competition tires and high performance summer tires as your street tires.

Shoulda ran some Falken Azenis or some Hoosiers.
