If you cant beat him even with a stock Evo your driving sucks. There is no way the SRT4 would win unless drivers error happens. Take it to the track like others are telling you and show him who's king of the hill!

Okay guys I have an evo and a pretty good knowledge of srts and he's is not completely wrong. If you race from around 30 he will suprise you. He might not win but he'll give you a hell of a run if he can get through he gears. If he spends about five bucks at home depot and does the sping mod to his wastegate and adds a simple bleed valve you'll be lookin at his tailights all day from a roll. Srt-4's are really resepctable cars the big reason none of them run that fast is because they have terrible traction problems in first and second gear because they start making big torque numbers very early in the rpm range. Oh and every srt-4 I've ever seen dyno sheets from has produced at least 218whp and most of them are around 225. Not to say that an evo isnt a much better car but dont underestimate srt's they're not just another "neon". Oh and he can make enough power to do elevens for around 4000 but he will have to spend more than that to get it to the ground.

I have over 70 gigabytes of car videos. Street races, tv shows, dvd rips, track races, dynos, compilations, etc, etc... and I have plenty of videos that are Evo Vs. SRT-4. And I can tell you from what I've seen it's usually the Evo, even from a roll. But there are several videos of SRT-4's taking Evo's from a roll and the line. just don't make any mistakes.

Yes, I believe they do infact dyno somehwre between 220-230fwhp. I've read that several places, so either it's a rampant rumor or it's true. I know the first year they were sold, they were 15hp less than what every other year has been. This is no secret though, Dodge added some stuff to boost sales.

P.S. the SRT-4 responds just about as well to popular mods as the evo, and they have a limited-slip, so they put the power down well for fwd.

when Sport Compact Car mag tested the 2003 SRT-4 here's the numbers they got:

Measured Wheel Hp: 223 hp @ 5700 rpm
Measured Wheel Torque: 250 lb-ft @ 3000 rpm

And since the 2004's have the Stage I upgrade injectors stock I'd say 230hp at the wheels is just about right.

I really don't have anything much to add to the discussion that hasn't been said already. The EVO costs $10k more for a reason.....because it performs that much better. In a straight line though SRT's can surprise and with $2k you can put 400hp to the ground. New motor mounts help the hop problem but ultimately you run into the limits of FWD. That's why I still want an EVO

Yes you should win, but do not underestimate the SRT-4, for they are tough to beat from a roll. So if you are not on the top of your game, the SRT-4 can leave you wondering wtf just happend?

Like some people have said the SRT is not a slow car. Stock vs stock EVO will lose on a roll (drivetrain lost). Unless you have a VAFC with BR setting or a flash and can drive you may not win.

I line up against one at the track. Not sure what he got but he edge me off the line (bad reponse time) but I was able to catch up and win but he was always on my tail. I ran 12.5x where he ran 13.5x.

the SRT also only weighs 2900 lbs. which is pretty light in this day and age.

Stock vs stock on a roll evo will lose unless the SRT driver can't drive or you got a special stock EVO. Now from a stop that's a different story. If the EVO jumps only by 1/2 car from a stop the EVO will still lose. Top end on stock EVO

my 04 SRT4 made 225 WHP bone stock, but with my mods now I should be around 290-300 WHP and like 310-320 tq.

There are SRT4's out the pulling 1.7 60' times with slicks at the drag strip.... i figure an SRT4 with 400+ WHP pulling 1.7 60' times could give many EVO's a good run at the track
