New GTO.......1/4 mile?

A buddy of mine is looking to get a new car and he's pretty intersted in the new GTO.

Does anyone know what the 1/4 mile is on this car stock?

Yeah the 2005s should be even faster with it getting 400HP, I'd expect it to hit low 13s and possibly see a few runs in the right conditions in the 12s. As far as the 2004s, mid to high 13s on the average.

Yeah the only one I've seen at the track only run a best time of low 14s. But Fontana is a slow track, so maybe on a better track it could of hit high 13s.

The current 04 GTO has the LS-1 5.7L Motor 350hp, but the new 05 has the all new 6.0L LS-6 with 400hp to the crank.............

i saw some 04 models....runnin 13.8 @ 102mph with automatic....no mods. Then there were 3 5spds (one i think had a exhaust) all all of could run faster mphs (103-105) but 13.9-14.4's cause of not knowing how to launch it.

The GTO is nice and powerful, but they are heavy. You would think RWD would be lighter than AWD. Think about it, 350hp vs. 271. Shouldn't the GTO whip us? So the '05 would be on par with us. You have to remember, RWD muscle cars have a problem with something called traction. I've seen a GTO accelerate from a stop. It spends a good amount of time peeling out before it makes any real forward progress.

and this is why AWD ownz FWD and RWD cars (assuming power/weight is anywhere near comparable)

true that awd can launch better than fwd/rwd and evo can beat from 0-60, but 5-60 and above is a different story. Sure people can say a slightly modified evo w/ boost controler or bigger turbo can hang with V8, but the 2004 GTO are NA cars. Superchargers are out and are seeing 400 to 500 hp to the wheel. It is easier for the goat to see 10's and 11's than the EVO.

I saw a GTO doing constant quartile mile runs in the 13.4s.....You have to be a very good evo driver to take it on a straightaway........if the evo is stock.

actually they are getting the LS-2 not the LS-6.

if it was the LS-6, then it would be priced up there with the z06
