both really good cars. i kinda have a soft spot for trans -am, maybe cause of smokey and the bandit, but don't forget the 89 turbo v-6 trans am. anyway, depnds on driver, and course. i think a really good driver in trans am will win 1/4 mile, but any type of road/race course, the evo will win.

Stock for stock, EVO wins from a dig, Trans AM (98 and higher) from a roll on most situations.

At the track i took my car (when it was just intake, plugs and wires) against a '00(ish) modded firebird (forcing more air, some engine work, exhaust and a new rear end). I blew him off the line, and at the end his V8 chased me down HARD. I ended up beating him by 2 tenths, but his MPH was about 20 more than mine. He had trouble between first and second, and i had trouble with 3rd and missed 4th pretty good. V8's don't like to be beat by 4 cylinders...it's funny!

WS6's are the fastest of the fbodies stock and can turn in 108+ in the 1/4. A stock evo isn't going take a ws6 and would really get killed in a roll-on.

If you know how to launch, a stock EVO can beat a WS6 in the 1/4 mile. But from a roll like I said, the EVO would most likely lose.

If everything is perfect maybe... Both of the Evo's I've had were gutless above 5,000 and I would guess them to be high 13 sec cars at best. Just my experience with an '03 8 and and '04 RS. The 05's are looking to be a little stronger based on some dyno talk here and the mag tests.

I raced a 2003 WS6 and A ss camaro at the drag. I was stock, I can't speak for them, but I beat both of them twice. The race goes like this---- 1st and 2nd gear you gain 2 maybe more car lengths. After that they play catch up. They will gain on you in the end, but it won't be enough.

I think they were running consistant 13.7's I was running 13.5's.

On the street, racing to about 50mph or what ever the speed limit is you will destroy them. On the highway they have more up top than we do. Remember there is no replacement for displacement. Stock for stock if you can drive worth a sh$t you will win.

Sorry, but apparently you have never raced one. I LOVE WS6 TA's, and like I said top end monsters. They do have high trap speeds. But from a stop the evo will hand it to a TA. From a roll it would be close up to around 100mph then the TA is going to start leaving. A TA will not pass you until after 3rd gear for any reason.

You are right though the ones I raced were all turning 107-109 traps.

If somebody wants to host my vid, i'll put it up...shows how much AWD helps you off the line against a big V8 spinning.
