Question Kawaskai Ninja 250cc

Hello,
I was thinking some of you all most likely ride bikes so how is this one? I want a nice starter bike. I am the biggest newbie there is to motorcycles and this one looked great to me. I now want a sport bike and this one stood out as the perfect begginer bike.
Thanks,

from my 7 years experience in the motorcycle business i would suggest at least a SV650 or SV650s for your first bike. it has alot better power, it is def. able to modded for more power, has aluminum frame, fuel injection, and has an excellent resale value. and it wont break the bank cause it only retails for 5899 for a reg 650 and 6399 for the S model.

Get a least a 500cc engine. Not only is 250cc lacking in power, but the gears are really really short. You'll be shifting to 3rd by the time you cross an intersection. The engine will be really whiny at 55mph in its highest gear.

With at least a 500cc bike, you'll won't be so quick to upgrade to larger bike as you would a 250. Just get a used 500/600 open fairing bike. That way, you won't freak out when you drop the bike.

Get the 500. Probably a lot more fun to ride, and still a really good beginner.

I still think I am gonna get this. I don't need anything fast as it is only to drive short distance and I don't want anything fast or heavy yet. And I don't want to spend that much so 3g's aint bad for this baby. Thanx

dont go with anything too fast if you've never rode a bike before. Turning in first gear could end up being scary on a 600cc bike. I've seen a kid give it just a little gas on a GSXr going around a corner and the bike ended up facing the wrong way with him flying off of it.

I say go for it, I bet that thing will be a blast!

You mention you're going to be a first-time rider, and since a large percentage of motorcycle riders don't know how to properly steer one, check this out:

i got a 1989 Kawasaki EX500....thats before the called it the ninja. It was only $275 which is why i bought it. The kid thought the engine was blown but just the carbs were clogged. so i got an amazing deal.

I havn't really drove it fully yet...but it does have some ***** to it. its pretty quick for a 500. definitely a good starter bike...although i'm far from a beginner...just have no cash lol.

Get a used Gixxer 600 or something like that then you can spend 3gs. But again you've never been on a bike I might suggest it, but you will get bored very fast. Trust me. I thought the same way you did when I strated but I picked it up really really fast so I was bored from my little Honda. Dont waste your money on a small bike. Take a riders education coarse then buy a bike. I know most Harley dealrers have them and there are many other places.

the 250 is a great starter bike....plus if you drop it a few times you won't care. Just ride it for 6 months to a year and then sell it and get what you really want once you're comfortable on 2 wheels. Don't listen to anyone who tells you go buy a 600 or 1000 cc bike like a gixxer....those are dedicated race bikes and DEFINITELY not for starters.....they are very fast and have very twitchy handling unless you put steering dampers on them and spend some time setting up all the suspension. You made a good choice.

Buy a used one, they depreciate fast. Dont listen to the guys saying start with a 600cc bike, go to that after you take your lumps on the 250cc bike. Yes, it might be a girls bike but being safe and alive allows you to buy another bike. Too many times Ive seen guys buy 600cc bikes or even 750's and litre bikes and wind up hurt, dead or worse-paralized just for the sake of "not getting bored with it". Thats why you should buy used....and seriously think about taking some riding courses and such. With that being said, good luck with it. BTW, the SV650 is a great bike to learn on as it doesn't have the power of a 600cc supersport bike, so that'd be another great choice with more caution advised.
