the commercial is about a mutual respect. its not about who is faster, better or whatever else people complain about. the eclipse has always been a driving force in the the sport compact world just like the other cars....it shows respect for each other

i test drove one this weekend. i don't know what's with all the haters; that car was fast, handled well and had a nice solid feel to it. the exhaust note sounded sexy as hell too.

Test drive an EVO and then you will know. Its not a bad car, but not even close to being on the same level in regards to out of the box performance and ability to upgrade. Personally I think the worst decision Mitsubishi ever made was to eliminate the AWD turbo option from the eclipse lineup. If the new eclipse had the drivetrain from the EVO it would definitely be something worthy of discussion.

bowing? You guys are dumb... think outside the box.
Like viciouz said, it's respect. The "new kid" comes into town and the "import gods" see what it can do and bow out of "respect", a la the japanese... they bow as in respect.
IMO, the 3g clipse isn't as great as the 1st, 2nd and the 4th... but weither it was a driving force or turned to a FWD chick magnet... it still made it's MARK and will with this new 4g. The 4g has a brighter furture than the evo, and US (as mitsu owners) need to bank on it, beacause if it doesn't sale, we can possible say good bye to MMNA.

what happened is in the past, but arithmetic is right. the 4g eclipse will make or break the "revival" of mitsubishi. The company as a whole is in trouble, and they don't sell/make enough of the evo's and the eclipse has been an attention grabber for since it was born. That is not to say that the evo is in any way not as good as an eclipse, but the market for potential sales increases with a lower price level. Wow, I guess econ classes did work...... I sound like my professor. Either way, I hope they sell a lot of the damn things, because they are breaking the bank on marketing for it.
