I had a C5 for about a year. The torque is definitely addicting and I will get another LS1/2-powered vehicle, just not a vette. I sold it for the Evo and have been happier ever since.

Get a Hurst if you want a REALLY short shifter. It's fairly notchy but it is lightyears better than that stock pos. I loved mine and was pissed I didnt get it sooner in my vette ownership. I also suggest Kooks longtubes with the stock titanium catback, beautiful sounding combo.
Sorry to break it you but 11.9 is with drag radials, which means the car isn't stock. Also no stock turbo EVO can ever keep up, are you sure about that statement? EVOs on stock turbo have been making as much WHP as the C5 Z06 makes advertised flywheel so really what are you talking about? EVOs have been laying down 330WHP-350WHP+ on the stock turbo and pump gas for years

That's straight pump gas (no alky). Word of advice, when ever speaking about the EVO, do not use the words NEVER or NO EVO, it really makes you look bad.

Whoa...Lets not let this turn into a pissing match. He said "No" Evo would keep up on the freeway, and i agree, unless highly modded. Yes it would be close, but believe me the Z06 is freakin insane on the freeway. I'll have my other mods, soon so I'll keep you posted, hell I'll even get video

I'll add this...granted I dont know how many people have, but I talked to a guy that went 12.0 bone stock. Just like there are Evo's that run crazy 1/4 mile times stock, or better than average. Anyways lets just get along

Heres a pic, before I lowered it of course

You may not be a nitrous fan, but throw on a 150 TNT wet shot with a 15lb bottle and heater. It costs 1.75K installed with Ls1 Edit for tuning and watch out.

You will get around 10-12 full quarter mile passes and trap in the 125-130mph range depending on the tune all on pump gas. A local ran a 12.44 bone stock and trapped 126mph on the wet shot on his 1 and only pass ET was 11.6.

Yeah definitely not a nitrous fan. I know they can be crazy on the bottle, but I'd prefer to not use it. We are going to do long tube headers , cams and a nice tune, that should put it over 400 whp, which would easily run 11's, of course we'll use drag tires at the track ( ok maybe on the street too )

Cartek stage 3 cam/head package has put down almost 500rwhp without longtubes. I personally would not drop the coin for longtubes just a nice cam or head and cam package and tune.

Good luck.

Search for a guy named Ranger on CorvetteForum, you will see this:

'02 Z06, Black on black
Bone Stock on original stock tires
Best Run: 11.818 sec @ 117.26 1.78 60' 170' DA
Dynojet: (SAE) 353 rwhp, 347 rwtq
Looks like they can do 11.8 stock. Granted this isnt the norm by any means but it is definitely possible if you can drive like a maniac.

As the thread starter pointed out, I said on the highway. Peak numbers are great but they dont tell the whole story. My car trapped at 107 and I know it isnt nearly as fast on the highway as a stock C5 which traps similarly.

I made that mistake too a lot when I first got my car. Have to get used to the fact it only has one. You can do long tubes and a fairly mellow cam and be putting down ~425 or so rwhp. Should be good be good for trapping a nice 120-122. Or you can go all out and put a nasty, nasty cam in it and be closer to 450.

Great looking car, you seem to have a thing for yellow.

1. ams chris vs new zo6,chris murders that cars ***.His torque is way more than new zo6 which is around 460-470ftlb. Chris car is probably way into the 500's in torque. 2. zo6 are hot cars and they come with double the horsepower and evo has stock, some evo come better than others stock as did mine I was killing numerous v8 when I was stock.3 I would love to go against a new 06 zo6 on the expressway believe me he would s*** his pants when racing me.

I would say you post is correct, but add a 150 shot to the Z06 and the above becomes very unlikely. The c6 Z06 is so much more than a straightline car and it will out track any car under 200K IMO.

I don't like "Cheby's", but it's hard to beat the C5 Z06 for their current price. Locally they have a Black/Black 03' with 3100 miles for 34K.

Like I said before a G5X3 head/cam package with filter/exhaust/gears/tuning will can run 10.50's@131mph. You'll be putting down 500rwhp on premium pump all day long and trapping 125mph+ all day long. You can go read up on the Cartek site pretty impressive stuff....and they have more radical set ups now.

The new C6 is putting down mid 400's on filter/exhaust/cam only.

Enough of the "Cheby" talk though.

I will definitely look into some different power packages for the Z06 before I buy. A nice head and "cam" package sounds sweet, but I would still need it to pass CA smog As mentioned, we lowered it, wheels should be here mid week along with a clear bra and alarm with remote start goes in tomorrow. Once the Evo gets done (if ever ) I will be concentrating on the Z06. I plan on getting close to 400 whp out of the Evo soon, so in the meantime before I mod the Z, it should be interesting. I may go to A&A to get our mods done on the Z, I think their about 4 hrs away, which isnt too bad.

A & A freaking rocks....definately a premier tuner and great with ATI's. Shoot they have Procharged Z06's with just a A&A kit and bolt on's....valve covers never of the car pushing 600rwhp.....and 550rwhp is a piece of cake.

It won't have the powerband of a heads/cam car, but it will pass emissions and will get you into that 130mph range too.

Once you get some mods on the Z06 a will venture to say you will be driving the EVO less and less. It will be interesting to see what your thought are in couple of months.

Good luck and sweet cars both EVO and Z06!!
