Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart......Opinions?

Looks wise the car is still so, so in my opinion, but you can't ingore the performance of this car! Just wanted to know what everyone else thought about the car? Think it will sell?

Galants aren't supposed to slalom at 69 mph. They don't run the quarter mile in 14.4 seconds at 98.5 mph and can't do Motor Trend's figure-eight in 25.7 seconds. And no Galant behaves like an Evo. While a front helical differential or AWD would help, some of the cars this front-drive Ralliart beat through our slalom test are surprising: Its 68.8-mph run is better than those of the 350Z, RX8, and 911 40th Anniversary (and it's more than five mph faster than stock). Braking also was impressive: The Brembo four-piston kit in front and cross-drilled rotors in the rear dropped the distance from 60 mph by 12 feet and by nearly 60-feet from 100 mph. Brake feel is firm but civilized.

Mitsubishi introduced a Ralliart, or motor sport version, of the Galant at the 2004 SEMA show which the company intends to bring into production for the 2006 model year. With its rear spoiler, side skirts, wire mesh grille and special front and rear fascias, this flashy variant of Mitsubishi's sedan is aimed at roping in younger buyers. The engine is a 3.8-liter V6, capable of 260 horsepower, which the Galant Ralliart will share with the 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The powertrain is rounded out with a six-speed manual transmission. Other performance-oriented features include Racing Hart F10 wheels, Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires, a Ralliart exhaust along with a custom air intake, a rear stabilizer bar, cross-drilled rotors, a coil-over spring suspension and Brembo four-piston front brakes.

It doesn't look bad, but I don't think it could stand up to other competitive cars of same class. Like the Legacy GT, Mazdaspeed 6, or the VW R32. They are all AWD which just makes them better, I believe.

I think the closest competitor to the Galant Ralliart (if it makes it to market) is the current Altima SE-R. Both cars are near identical in specs.
