Forced induction RSX Type S/2006 Civic Si

What do you EVO guys think about Turbo or Supercharged RSX's and the new Civic Si, the K20 motor gone forced induction. Are they fast or still kinda, eh... on the weak side. There was a heated discussion about this among some cocky Honda/Acura people.

What do you mean? They are both still factory N/A. If your talking about the aftermarket then who cares it all depends on your goals and how good your shop and tuner are. Both are great N/A but Id take the new Si. Has an LSD and is the best civic yet.

A turbo K20 will easily put down 300 to the front wheels, and will have way better throttle response and top end than a stock evo... so from a ricer roll.. no theyre not weak.

edit: hopefully i get some mods before i get spanked by one

The K20's will produce great HP numbers if done right. I made 300whp on a bone stock K20 in a Civic EP3 with full exhaust and catalytic converter with just the SFP kit.

part of the reason they turn into crap is because high compression + boost is alot less forgiving to tune.

So what is neccessary to do it right? and is it worth it? I'd think traction would be a huge problem... what kind of money does it take, straight up to have a bone stock RSX or Si with the K20 and have it "done right"... $5,000 total?

I dont know thats just one of those cars with an amazing N/A engine I would leave it N/A do bolt ons and suspension. Flash to 9k and drive it with no worries ever.

thats about right. I know i could spend 5K-7K on a K20. And yes, traction is an issue. throttle response makes launching easier, but its still going to be front wheel drive.

key word is stock evo, once modded it has no chance unlesss you go crazy and make the car weigh 2000 lbs.

The k20 is very potent. With a 3,500 Jackson Racing Supercharger, with Race pully, it puts down 280hp to the wheels. Not bad for 3,500. With turbo they have been known to put down over 350whp with no engine mods.

+1

But with 3,500 you can almost get the Stage 2 vishnu kit...
which would eat up a supercharged k20...

But with the money you save on the purchase of an rsx you could... It goes on and on lol. I personally really like the rsx for some reason, very hot imo. I like the 05's+ more. The k20 is a very good engine but overrated and I heard it blows easily from a mis-shift because of a weak something?
