CBR 600 F4I or GSX-R 750, 1st street bike??
I've been looking at picking up a used street bike, 2000 or newer. I've never owned a street bike before. I do have a lot of experience riding dirt bikes, though i know it isn't the same.
I've talked to many people about this, and the two bikes that keep popping up are the CBR 600 f4i and the GSX-r 750.
I do enjoy the way both of these bikes look. I was just wondering if anyone here had either for a first bike, or what you would recommend otherwise.
I will definately be going with a used bike, looking to spend no more than $4500.
Thanks!

I'm still don't have a street bike but from what most people tell me, the 600 F4I would be friendlier than the GSX-R 750 to the novice street rider. The seating position would also be more confortable than the Gixxer. That said, my first street bike is most likely going to be a used liter bike and I really hope I will have done everything else I wanted to do in life because that will probably be the last thing I do...

Good Call. In fact I have an SV650S. Wonderful 'first' bike. Great mods, great motor, light, and just as 'fast' as the other bikes upto about 9/10s.
After the SV650 ... I'd personally recommend the Triumph 675 IMHO.
Cheers,

watch out though some of the newer 00+ (yrs vary depending on the maker) have fuel injection. some of the 600cc bikes that r fuel injected r just as fast or if not faster then the non fuel injected 750's+. I would reccommend not getting a super fast bike for your first one.

Ok, that is a lot of response.
As far as experience on bikes go, i've frequented many, many moto-x events riding 125's and 250's.. mostly 125's though, i'm not that big of a dude.
I am not limitting myself to those two specific bikes, they are just the two that most people have suggested.
It looks like i'll be going for a 600 f4i, probably 01-02. I sell my lancer on july 5th, and i'll just be driving the suby...so i need something cheap and fun.
My friend has a red/black helmet, riding pants and jacket, all padded he is giving me. He sold his bike and it all will fit me... I'm not the type to go out on a street bike with a t-shirt and swimming shorts...
thank you all for your input.
