What do you guys think of Saleens?

That's like the Shelby GT500. I wouldn't pay $42,000 (plus $20,000 dealer markup) for one. Give me a standard C6 Vette. It'll be faster, handle better, and look better.

When comparing the money spent to reach those numbers, He has 15K on top of the price of the car and I only have around 4K in mine.

Anyways drove a 2003 "Hollywood Homicide" edition with 9000 miles on it. I would not trade for a hardtop, but the convertable is SWEET. Lots more looks than the EVO, and resale is better esp going used. Drive was a little smoother than the EVO, but handling sucked. Power is 375 HP adn 415 TQ.

meanmud and i were at a track day at summit point and there was a brand new saleen mustang w/20" wheels in our group. don't know what it actually weighed but i had to be around 4000lbs. that guy and a viper were like a rolling roadblock for us... they finally let us by and we never saw them again (till the last lap, and we were coming up on 'em again!)

I thought hard about a Saleen before the Evo. HARD. But I couldn't have the SC version, knowing the E was out there. Ok, so $70K. Hmmm. I heard the GTR was going to be around that much in 2008 and that seems like a way better deal. I was a domestic guy (although I don't dig on the Z06 that much) for awhile so this was a big turning point for me. But I had to wait for one and the $$$$. So enter the EVO. I didn't know whole lot about them, but I took a look at dealer, test drove one (an VIII) and I was SOLD!
I still dig the Saleens though. They are a different class than an EVO. Saleen is a muscle car, while the EVO is more of a handler. A stock 500 hp saleen vs a 286 EVO in a drag: Saleen wins. A road race situation: EVO wins.
