No doubt about the LS1 being quite capable and it's nice to see people admitting the stock bottom end's realistic power limitations but, with all due respect, there is a world of difference between the reliability of a T/A and a Corvette. Personally I hate working on F-bodies and would pick a C5 to wrench on any day. That's where my preference would end. The Corvette has always been GM's technology test bed and with that comes many inherent "gremlins". My previous employer used to have people constantly referred to him by the dealership for troubleshooting. Unless you have a 'Vette "specialist" around you and are willing to accept the fact that you'll be zero to no maintenance on your own vehicle I would reconsider your options. If it's the versatility of the LS1 you are looking for then I would highly recommend a well kept F-body. Many who have hands on experience with the vehicles through a mechanic's standpoint will agree. Please nobody take my comments as an attack. Just giving you an honest opinio from a year of 70hr weeks spent working on the aforementioned vehicles.

ZO6 > Supra

The Z06 outperforms the Supra in EVERY way. The Corvette also has a much better racing history -- won Le Mans 5 of the last 6 years, ALMS victories, SCCA, etc.

The only reason I can see for buying a Supra would be if you're just a fan of those cars. Who cares about huge HP numbers -- both cars can do that.

My co-workers dad worked for GM for 40+ years, and he is a die hard GM guy. With that being said, he is the first to admit the build quanlity isn't that great on any of the GM cars, including the 'vette. Supra on the other hand, is a very well made car.

Supra all the way:
1) Much more rare, I see 1 supra a week if Im lucky and I live by sound performance..I see c5's all the time atleast 5 a day..
2.) The stock turbo's can produce over 500whp, I dont know what people are saying about you have to go single to be fast..
3.) 10 million X sexier

C6 FTW...interior looks better, faster stock, bolt ons and juice will get you 130mph traps, high 10sec or better 1/4 mile, and still 30mpg.

I'm so tired of people saying the Supra's interior is so well put together. It look old IMO. That's like all of the NSX guys saying how great the NSX interior is it look like it should be in a classic car history exhibit. Super old and dated IMO!!

Compared to a C5 the Supra looks better compared to a C6 there is no comparison IMO. The HUD and seats win for the C6 alone.

Supras are heavy and they are fast only when converted to single turbo kits. Their stock turbos aren't nothing special, their intercooler isn't very efective either and is not that big.

The Vette on the other hand is much much lighter, has more power and torque , is more aerodynamic, handles much much better in stock trim, outbrakes the Supra.

Supras are overpriced because of stupid ugly movies like the fast and the furious. Why is a Supra so expensive anyway?, because of the demand and low production numbers? BS, its not justifiable at all.

In my book a Supra TT should cost no more than $10-$15 used, you can buy cars that were as pricey as the Supra for a fraction.

Stop supporting the Supra ego!!! I am, not saying they are a bad
car though.

Carlos
You echoed my thoughts exactly.

I love Supras and was looking at one prior to buying the Evo but Supras have gotten so much hype since the F&F movie.

Granted they are excellent cars with a huge amount of tuning potential, but bottom line is that anything past BPU+++ (not sure how many of the +'s SupraStore has coined) will cost a lot of money.

A big single turbo will cost a large amount of cash.

I think the beauty of the Supra is that is looks nice despite being 8-13 years old and, here's my key point, basic bolt-ons net a lot of horsepower (420-450 rwhp).

But......

Like I stated above it will cost a lot to upgrade the turbo, still less than a Evo to get similar HP numbers, but at big horsepower levels the old adage applies: you got to pay to play.

Z06 is the way to go.

1. Only 4-5 years old
2. Stock block can take a little more than 500rwhp
3. Handles better
4. Basically equal price to a low-mileage Supra TT despite a Z06 being 3-8 years newer ($30k - $40k).

I'd save a little and get a C6 Vette....

Example.

Have you driven a 3000 GT VR4? they are bad a s s cars, they come fully equipped and cost half of a Supra. Why would you want a used car that cost that much?

Stock Supras run high to low 14s, it takes a lot of money to make them fast. A stock Z06 run low 13's to mid 12's out from the box.

Carlos
You're wrong. A STOCK Supra runs mid to low 13s @ 107-108 mph. Pulls .96-.98 on the skidpad and with it's trac fuse pulled(Speed limiter disabled) can hit 180mph.
Simple BPU mods will get you 118+ traps speeds and into the 11s and even 10s without even upgrading to a single set up.

For some people being able to hit 1000hp on the stock block and get 400-450rwhp on the STOCK twins makes it a better choice than a VR-4 and is worth the extra money. Obsolete, maybe because Toyota will probably never over-engineer a car like the Supra ever again. The I-6 engine is one of the best tuner engines ever made. Wrapped in a sexy shell that still looks good to this day proves the Supra has withstood the test of time.

I don't know if a BPU modded Supra would hit 10's without some decent weight reduction.

Yes the Supra was over-engineered, and I'm still amazed how the Toyota bean counters could allow a car like the Supra get into production.

Comparing the Supra to a 3000GT VR4 isn't really fair.

I believe the Supra to be a better car.

I don't think it was 1000rwhp on the stock block, but 958rwhp.

Nonetheless very very impressive.

I still think the C5 Z06 to be a better performance value then a Supra though.
