maintenance cost of a GTI ?

Does anyone know what the maintenance cost is like for the VW GTIs. I am looking into getting an 07' and I want something a little less "needy" in the maintenance department than the evo. I tried to do a search but couldnt find a real answer, so thanks in advance for any info.

why would you worry about maintienence costs of a 07 (esp a dub). vw.com says that a "5yr/60,000mi powertrain limited warranty" is included with the purchase of an 07 GTi. from what i hear/have seen, they last along time. but of course the ones i have been exposed to our TDi's (my dad has had them his whole life). my buddy has a 2001 vr6 gti with ~80k on it. no engine problems(3rd gear grinds), but alot of minor stuff is broken(interior parts, keyless entry, etc etc). and if this helps you out, i have HEARD that vw has rather high "maintienence costs". can anyone confirm this. reason being, to get worked on, they must be taken to the dealership, or to a mechanic who specialize in euro cars. but again, i am not THAT sure on this subject. just giving my .02.

You're looking at roughly the same deal with the Evo. You'll save some $ because of the diff and TC fluids and gas, but that's about it. Just change your Evo brake pads to something that has less bite and grab but lasts longers, same thing with tires, and you'll be set. Motor and tranny oil should be changed at roughly the same intervals, they're both factory FI cars.

Id ask here:

http://www.clubgti.com/forum/
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zeroforum?id=25

But from what I know of an ex-coworkers car it was on the more expensive side.

vwvortex.com is your best bet.

I have an Evo and a GTi.
