The K20 continues to be an impressive engine, Honda should boost that engine from the start, and it wouldn't even be close to what the best sport compact car is, the SRT-4, Cobalt SS, and MS3 would both be in the rear view.

Just read the article in sport compact car mag about the 7sec unsponsored Honda in Jersey just broke all the records with. Clearly traction is something you can get around. Although it of course that's not a daily driver

then again it wasnt your everyday honda civic
Hondas always produced more hp per liter which is why its still my favorite motor of all the ones i messed around with...
i used to hav a b18c1 with a full race turbo kit, and it dynoed at 405. couldnt drive the car as a daily driver and at the track with drag radials it would smoke them rolling and with slicks i had problems breaking half shafts. I know what they can do and there is defintaly some impressive hondas But because of my experience with them i would rather be gone of the line rather than wating for traction and then catching up.

Plus i prefer driving my car to the track and going straight to the line, not having to deal with changine tires and such. Just my personnel preference.

Well i agree i had an SRT4 before my evo that Dynod @ 296 whp and 384 Ft/LBS, and it would just light em in 2nd @ 30-40 MPH and was a complete ***** to launch, so i hear where your coming from, But his car is putting down 200ish whp, and since it has the torque of a riding lawn mower, and makes power progressivly, ( makes more and more as motor turns, hence the great top end) and has D/R's i could believe those 0-60 foot times, and his previous statement that lauching wasnt too difficult.

6k? I guess with internals. I presume that Spending about 6k on your evo is more worth while. Way Better Results, Way more power and much sharper car. Thats why i made the switch from Wrong wheel Drive to AWD! never go back

Uh, what kinda crack are you smoking? He's only running EIGHT psi! Lets see what kind of power an Evo puts down with only 8psi. Heck, on my SR20, I was only putting down 230whp/214tq at 7.5 psi.

The K20 is considered by many as the best 2.0L motor made.

It makes so much power because its very high compression. It has like 11:1 compression. Our evos have 8.8:1. Having lower compression and higher boost equal out. You would have serious reliability problems in that honda engine running high boost like we do. If you were to raise the compression ratio of our engines way up, you could run a lot lower boost and get the same power output.

You're not going to gain THAT much power from the higher compression. The K20 makes that much power because they revved the **** out of it and it has the best flowing heads of any motor in its class. I think they rev limit was 8500rpms on this guys motor? The ability of the head to flow lots of air allows it to keep that 230tq all the way across the rev range which translates into big power on the top end.

My SR20 head flows ****ty in comparison which is why I make similiar peak torque but it drops off fast up top and limits the power.

I noticed the "abundance" of torque also, at a whopping 232 ft/lbs tq. Typical no-torque Honda. Torque is what moves a car, and that car probably isn't as quick as one would expect it to be.

Great hp numbers, nonetheless, especially for only 8 lbs of boost. They nearly doubled the stock hp figures.

$6000 for a K20? Pfft, I'll take a 500 hp Chevy 502ci Big Block, thanks.

Great torque numbers too for only 8psi! If you figure 15% loss, then that's about 272tq at the crank. Huh, that's about as much as a stock 03 Evo running 20psi.
