Toyota to end sports car domestic sales
Toyota Motors say it will discontinue production of its MR-S in July next year in a move to end domestic sales of sports cars.
Toyota made the decision in the face of the sluggish domestic market for sports cars which prompted the biggest Japanese automaker to stop manufacturing the Toyota Celica in April.
Among other Japanese carmakers, Honda Motors has pulled the plug on production of its Integra sports car.

Toyota is making a new Supra. Rumor is that they'll have a V-6 producing 300+ hp and a V-8 making more then 400 hp. I've seen pics of it on Motor Trend, Autoweek, etc and it looks similar to the old 2000 GT only more macho.
Well ending sales of Domestic sports car. Toyota is a Japanese company so their domestic would be in Japan right?

Before ending the output of the MR-S, Toyota will offer 1,000 units of its special edition under the name of ''V Edition Final Version'' from next January 9. The special edition will be priced at 2.32 million or 2.40 million yen depending on its transmission systems.

You guys do realize the article is about Australia. Toyota announced in July 2004 that the Celica and MR2 would be discontinued in the United States at the end of the 2005 model year because of increasing competition and lack of sales.

Anyone here read any car magazines? Toyota will be making a Supra for the US to battle the Nissan GT-R. Lexus is also making an IS500 with a 5.0L V8 making around 400hp to battle the new V8 M3 and the Audi RS4.
The Celica and MR-2 were cancelled long ago, and the RSX is gone in 2007 I believe. Base Acura is gonna be the TSX because Honda wants that to be its luxury line.

No idea about the MR-S but the RSX is no longer in production. All the dealerships in my area are jacking up the prices because they cannot get more. Kinda sad. Wish I still had my RSX to sell off at a higher price than normal.

Toyota has a business plan that works -- they don't need sports cars.
