New GT500 Shelby

Also this is kind of one of my pet peeves (a long with dyno racing) but the author of the thread really needs to tell us what exactly he is looking for out of a car, especially if he wishes us to compare two vastily different cars such as the Shelby and EVO. I am not like some people, I can not honestly say the Shelby is better than the EVO, nor can I say the EVO is better than the Shelby. Both cars were created for different purposes, and not really intended to be compared side by side like this. I couldn't even say both of these cars are better than a Toyota Prius? How could I say that, when the Prius was created for an entirely different reason. Sure they are both faster, and will blow the Prius away in acceleration, but a potential buyer could give a rat a** about that and want a car that can achieve the best possible MPG for their money, ding, ding, the Prius just blow away the Shelby and EVO, why because that is what it was created for. The author of the thread, needs to ask himself, what exactly he is looking out of a car, I mean it is entirely possible that neighter the Shelby or EVO will fulfill these needs. He may want a 1/4 mile drag car and a car that draws a lot of attention, then I would say Shelby. Or he may love AWD, love the nimbleness of the EVO, the tight suspension, and then I would say it would be better to stick with the EVO. But he may be on his third clutch, had other little problems that may have made him dissatisfied with the EVO, then I would maybe suggest a STI or even a Legacy. I hope you guys get my point, the author needs to know what are the most important aspects of a car for him and what cars fulfill these needs the most.

Uhmmm.. I think you should keep the Evo or wait until the Evo X arrives. I don't think you would like to take curves swinging in a 4000 lbs venecian water canal boat.
It has been admitted by multiple sources that the new Shelby GT 500 left many performance gaps to be improved, among them the weight issue(4000lbs) and the mediocre suspension(venecian siwnging water canal boat)

I have the feeling the GT500 is good for attracting other dudes.. if you want to pick up girls.. well,
a picture says a thousand words... debagged c6 with bolt on z06 body panels... looks like a damn exotic!
and another C6 with with just the rear wide body.. all blacked out

ITs a GM part and carbon fiber!.. all the z06 parts just bolt right up.. the rear fenders can be had for under 1K direct from GM... easy bolt on.. turn around and sell your stockers to a wrecker and your probably out about $1000 total for the conversion.. plus your going to need to buy some takeoff z06 wheels to fill those fenders!.. whats great too is the vette has adjustable ride height, so you you just lower the rear slightly with the stock adjusment bolts to match the new fenders...Think about how good the C6 aftermarket is when you have a supercar parts bin to pick from at very low prices.

dude.. do not do this, the GT500 is so damn overpriced.. same cheap build quality on the rest of the car that the base mustang has.
I just traded my evo for a C6 z51 corvette.. you can pick one up now for low 40s and its superior the the GT500 in every performance category stock plus its a much better looking car. (GT500 cant handle and with 100hp more is slower in the 1/4?) Headers cam and intake and your at 430whp with a top speed near 200mph.
the vette isnt as sharp as the evo in the steering deparment because it has gummy bushings (which can easily be replaced)..its pretty much superior in every other aspect though.. braking, handling, top end.. plus 30mpg on the highway. I have a few mods on it.. and like that the engine starts opening up big time.

I'm saving my pennies to buy me an 03/04 C5 Z06 with less than 10k miles. As soon as I get the Vette, the Evo will become my daily driver.

I sold my Evo last summer to try and get a GT500. Well after they came out the dealer bailed on my MSRP deal and wanted 25K over. The cars are still selling for 10-15K over MSRP so unless you find some dealer whos retarded or plan on waiting a while your going to have to pay about 55K min for one. The whole Dealer markup thing is pissing me off so I'll probably be able to get an EVO X before I can get the GT500 for MSRP.

SEXI!! OOOOHLALALA[/QUOTE]
I know the guy that built the first car. He also had a head/cam package and full exhaust, sounds rediculous. Ran pretty slow at the track, but those 20's aren't the best for hooking up. I raced him and he still whooped me, but that was when I was stock.
GT500's are nothing to laugh at though. A local tuner installed an axle back exhaust, JLT intake, upper and lower pullies and a predator tune and made 587whp. Get some better springs and shocks, lighter wheels and stickier tires and then see how fast it goes around the track, still for way less than a stock C6Z.
Can't say these cars don't look good.
Here is Evolution Performance's GT500, now running 9's with over 650hp/700tq on the stock blower.

I made the same mistake and posted this info on the Vette forums in OTHER CARS and I got flamed at first because it was old news and that is when I found out that there is BS that surounds this cars info.
This car has been talked about on the Corvette forums for a while now and yes this car has run high 9's BUT THIS CAR HAS way more done to it than what they claimed it had. Some of the guys who live near Evolution Performance went there and checked the car out and others called and said they wanted to duplicate it and how much would it cost and what mods would it take and thats when [B]the truth came out about this car. I don't remember all the real mods that were done to it but if you go to the Corvette or Mustang forums you will find the details. Think about it 4000lb car with only $3,500.00 dollors in mods hitting 9's. Even the 03 -04 Mustang Cobra guys were at that one.
Here is one link that explains that car I beleive: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...2&postcount=17
OH and BTW I'd still take a STOCK C6 ZO6 any day over that 70k + modded Mustang ( and thats what it really costs for that car with dealer mark up and set up) . Better all around track car. Light on it's feet 3052lbs vs 4000lbs.

Any idiot would take a C6 ZO6 over a GT500. But if your lookign to spend less money. (if they are selling the GT500 at sticker) Its an obvious choice isint it.
The 03 04 terminator owners are trying so hard to bad mouth everyone who has gone fast in a GT500
