I saw a Peugeot 607 the other day pulling into the Ford Complex. One of the first Peugeot's I've seen in Michigan.

The smart cars have been in Canada for a couple years now, yeah they're Mercedes (or at least they're sold by Mercedes dealerships here). Go figure, that thing passes the crash-test import standards and the evo doesn't...

Yes Renault was sold in the U.S. They had a Renault Le Car and and a Reliance. My neighbor had one. They were cars from the 80's. Opel is a German brand that is closely affiliated with GM.

I used to see Opels all the time when I was stationed in Germany but I have never seen that model however. But if I could get my hands on one of the two door models I saw running the streets in germany I would hop on one.

Thanks God! someone(you) that makes sense and knows his $hit. I was going to retype what you said but you already did.

Opel is also called in the UK Vauxhall. As far is the Renaults, they imported many more than just the Reliance and the Le car.

The Le car was base on the first Renault 5 plattaform which ended on 1985 in favor to the new "reborn"Renault Super 5, then it was replaced by the Renault Clios.

As far is the Renault reliance, it was called Renault 9 in Europe.
They also imported the Renault medallion which was the Renault 21. Additionally the USA also saw other Renault models suche the Renault 12 and the Renault Fuego.

It is really sad that we only got the crapiest of the crapiest models in the USA, I personally owned two Renaults Super 5 turbos and a Renault 21 Turbo, these were some of my sports cars on my early teenager stages and early 20s..

Renault made so many turbo models in the 80s that it was crazy:

Renault 5 turbo(world champion rally gruppe N)
Renault 11 turbo
Renault 18 turbo
Renault 21 Turbo(European champion gran turismo)
Renautl 25 turbo
Renault GTA alpina turbo
Renault Fuego turbo

Unfortunately you never heard of them because this market never imported them.

Carlos
