are you saying the 335i is the same performance car as the EVO, but with a way nicer interior?

A guy called me out at the track the other night with a 335i auto 4 door.

He ran a 13.5 with a 2.0 60 Foot I got the slip somewhere. Trap was 104 I believe.

Maybe I'm just a car guy that loves drivers cars.

Although I must admit while I'm eager to learn more about the 335 I am a little more hesitant about about working on it than any other car I've owned. BMW's are quite different than most cars. The damn thing doesn't have a throttle body for one. It alters lift to act as the throttle. That's pretty wild. Electric water pump, direct injection, Vanos, engine is half buried. I'm thinking exhaust and maybe some type of engine management and I'm about done with performance part on it.

IDK who said the handling on the 335i was numb but he must have been wearing oven mitts when he drove it or something. Yeah, it doesn't scream what's going on like the Evo but, it is still very talkative.

A new set of tires on the 335 will do a lot for its handling. It is pretty heavy, though.

Imagine 335i meets a fresh pair, probably wouldn't even fit, of Advan A046

The one I drove felt a little numb -- possibly because of the run flats. I am also a little spoiled as the cars I drive on a regular basis just have better steering feel -- this does not mean that the 335i isn't better than most

I seriously considered an E46 M3 and also had a Z4 M Couple on order for a bit. If BMW ever puts this engine in the Z4 then I might just have to try one =)

Um i think your talking about "SMG" (Sequential Manuel Gearbox) that the M3 M5 and M6 are equiped with, what you have to remember is that the 335i doesnt come in a SMG and the tip-tronic it has is acctualy slower than driving it straight automatic the only good thing is you can down shift when you want. I think the time he got his from the driver but than again no 2 cars are the same as the article states. Also the 335i does not have launch control only the M models have it, except for the Z4 coupe M because it does not come in SMG
