The MS3 is much more appealing as far the appearance goes. I think they have Subie beat on that one. I saw a silver MS3 and it was dead sexy.
Beyond that, I'm not trying to take away from the power potential of the MS3, but what's the good of having power if you can't properly put it to the pavement? Everything I've read has indicated that torque steer on the MS3 (Stock) is a monster. If it's anything remotely close to what I've experienced while driving an SRT-4, I would pass for that reason alone.
Either way, they are both great cars. If the torque steer wasn't as bad as they say, I would go MS3. Let us know what you decide!

Torque steer with an LSD? I thought that was supposed to minimize it on fwd. My Turbo PT (same drive train as the SRT-4 except for LSD) had around 265whp and the torque steer was still manageable, even without LSD. The MS3 has LSD and would be much more fun to drive, IMO.

I know they are ugly. All new the new cars coming out seem to have ugly-itis. It is supposed to be fast, though. SRT engineers are really excited about it. I'm thinking that they have stolen more than just the Block and chassis from the X. Some of the Calibers are AWD as well.

Transmission isn't an issue anymore, esp if you are buying the WRX TR new. I would go with that hands down after driving a FWD car for 6 years. The power is underrated to keep interest in the STI and the awd platform alone makes it worth buying over the ms3.

Subaru > Mazda.
The MS3 did surprise me though, but you obviously picked an Evolution first for a reason. The WRX TR has a major superiority in terms of handling, aftermarket support, and (maybe it's just a mass assumption) reliability.
