It was a fairly heavy car, at around 3500 lbs, and I guess the reason I viewed it as overweight was that the tires, brakes, and suspension didn't seem built to handle it.

I'll reserve final judgement till I see it in person but I think it's a bit of a let down. The looks just don't do it at all for me.

I think it looks very close to the 1st gen. So I am not dissapointed because my excitement is up because of the Dual Intake 3.7 liter which is putting out 330 horses!

3300 LBs, and able to get 500HP with only a turbo upgrade (1500 -2000) and able to get 700 HP with fuel upgrade. That is why a good specimen still has close to the original value. And yes the tires were not able to handle that, brakes were excelent though.
The new GT-R should rock. As will a 350 with the G37 engine. too badwill not be turboed.

Curb weight for a Mk IV turbo was 3478. Wet weight without driver around 3600.

The Mk IV was an awesome drag car. Easy reliable power well north of 600 HP. But as a track car, it was not all that. The brakes did a good job stopping it from high speed - once or twice. After that, it was a crapshoot. A lightly modified engine would generate power levels that the rest of the car could not handle for track duty.

The GT-R is a turbo car. No reason the G35 should be.

Better/more pictures in this months' Car and Driver of the G37. Incase no one else said that yet... I think it looks great, but it certainly isn't my cup of tea, probably because when I think of 100k luxury coupe I think of Porsche.
