My roommate has the Mazdaspeed 3. Im sure im crazy, but it FEELS faster than my Evo. Could just be the difference in driving my car and riding along with him. In any case its a helluva nice car, and I would take it over the civic or RSX for sure. Oh yeah, and it responds to mods REALLY well. You get like 50 HP from every little thing you do. Sounds really nice too. With an intake its got really cool turbo noise, and then the stock exhaust sounds pretty mean too.

Not quite... I believe the Mazdaspeed 3 performance package with just the intake and exhaust puts it up to 30-40 WHP... Yes WHP. I need to go look at the SCC again. Still great gains from just an intake and an exhaust and NO tuning. Only problem is the turbo falls off at 5500 RPMs.

I wasnt being literal with 50 hp for every lil mod. However he looks at all the research and what not with everything that comes out, and he supposedly gained like 30 hp and 50 tq to the wheels with his intake. Also a ECU flash is supposed to give like 50+ hp to the wheels. Not sure of the exact numbers, but its pretty ridiculous. I can see where its very possible for these type of gains because they had to work to limit the boost to where the car isnt just torque steering the car off the road in 1st and 2nd. His does break the wheels loose quite easily in third gear. I keep telling him hes going to kill himself when it rains. I think its too much power for front drive.

I wouldn't be surprised if the MS3 IS faster than an 03 Evo. It does have ~260hp, 280tq IIRC and weighs just over 3k lbs.

The issue of it falling flat on its face is similar to the boost taper we get I believe. Nothing some tuning of the boost can't fix.

Its only slow off the line. There is basically no boost in first and second. When it hits third though it takes off. Plus its just a nice lil car. The trim level is pretty sweet.

Since they basically share the same engine, k20z1 to k20z3, your basically gonna buy either of these cars based on looks and its obviously a no brainer...

2005 Type-S by a long shot.

I would get the Civic Si. It has a LSD, so it would handle better than the RSX Type-S.

I'd look into a AWD or RWD car instead.

If u are not gonna buy the evo just because of the insurance, please do urself a favor n dont buy either 1 of these cars. I had the 06 Civic Si and went to the evo and my insurance only went up $5 a month and m 20. Loved the sound of the VTEC with an intake on

Si looks a lot better than the RSX

Si>RSX

ur choice.

oh and the firewall in the Si is @ an angle so half the motor is kinda pushed into the passanger compartment. kinda hard to do stuff in there.

good luck
