Turbo G35 Coupe

I was just curious if anyone on here has ever built a g35 coupe, specifially one with the Greddy twin turbo kit. I have been considering doing it for a while, but would not want to do the turbo kit install myself. None of the shops I have called will give me even an estimate on what the labor would be, and that is kind of important to me before I would decide to do it. Basically, I just want to know about what the labor would run, so that I don't end up doing something I can't afford in the end.

Thats what I was worried about when they wouldn't give me an estimate. The kit I am looking at is about 6100 total.

I have seen a Greddy kit on a G35..... it was pretty much touching the firewalls. The only way I could figure that they installed the kit was by dropping the motor. There's NO space to work with in there.

I work with a guy that has a Greddy TT G35 intercooled. The kit cost him like 7k and then it was 3k to have it installed. Then it popped a head gasket which lead to a blown motor and he just had it built up from top to bottom, which cost him around 10k. He hates the car now.

My friend has an APS twin turbo '04 G35 coupe which puts down 370whp at only 9psi. I believe he paid around $10k OTD with labor and tuning. Its a very sweet ride but it still can't pull on my evo

Maybe I will go ahead and stick with the evo for now then, AWD and cheaper to mod. Thanks for the input.

I have a friend with a 350z and I can't remember how many times he's had to have the motor rebuilt because of his turbo......

He's been trough a couple of turbo kits and rebuilds.....I don't think he's tried the Greddy one but know that the APS one didn't work out to well for him....

His best time that I physically saw at the track after about $10K+ was only a 12.35.............so definitely money not well spent

those motors are weak. You will waste 10s of thousands on it and still have a slow car.

Vq35 are not meant to be boosted so it pops quiet easily. It cost a lot to maintain and to mod.

Definitely not a modder friendly car.

Looks great though!

Yeah, I love the way they look, that is why I have been interested. But it sounds like it is going to cost more to build and maintain than I want to spend. I'm still in college so I dont have too much time to work and make extra money.

It might end up being cheaper in the long run to wait for the Gt-R to be released and try and get a crate motor and drop it in...

Just a thought.

Before I got the Evo, I was going to get a 350 and go FI. I rode in one that was Greddy TT'd with 430WHP, and the thing spun all the way through third gear. When it finally gripped it had sickening pull.

I researched the 350/G35 for months. Even with the safest FI kit that is offered for the car, which is the Stillen S/C kit at 7lbs, you're just a little over 300WHP and lucky to be in the high 12's. Cost of the kit was about 6K, not including hood modifications so the blower would fit. More boost and most turbo kits almost beg for something to break. Lack of reliability and cost per gain were enough to turn me away.

I had a g35 6MT and saved almost 10k to buy the APS TT kit for the G, then lost it all in AC, thus, I am an evo owner!!! If you want to go FI with the G, def. go APS man! Wether it be single or twin, go APS! www.g35driver.com lots of info on there!
