As far as on the track I think you had a bad experience because my 07 Z06 runs so smooth with lots of power and torque. There are so many guys tracking these cars and as you know you have to be a GOOD driver to get 8-9 10ths out of the Z. I personally think that a car of the Z06, Carrera GT, GT3R etc level of performance should require a driving class to even get one.IMO.

What track do you belong to because I haven't heard of three motors blowing up in one small geographical area like that and I'm invloved with the Corvette community in many ways. This is not the norm. Have you and the other people with the blown motors posted your situations on Corvettefourms? If so I haven't seen it...and I'm on there a lot.

BTW as far as the P cars go they have their issues also as many have stated that I won't fgo into and to compare a Cayman to a Z06...well I think that is a stretching it a bit.

At Autobahn GT3's can't stay with Zs on the track especially if they are running R compunds like the P car....so a Cayman.....um I don't think so.

Hey to each his own....I'd rather have a track ready Katech built Z06 for about
35k on top of what a Z06 cost than a stock 140-150k 997TT any day of the week and I would still have about 30k left in my pockets.....and if you know about Katech ( they build the ALMS GT 1 C6R's engines. That car would lap a stock 997TT so easily.

I think GM has done a great job with the Corvette C6 and Z06.

As far as refinement goes I don't like all the excess **** they put on performance cars anyway.

Thats why I like the Evo also....RAW

Good luck with your dads Z06 hopw you get the problems worked out
My opinion of the cayman is just that, I believe the car is more fun to drive. I'm not foolish enough to think its a better performance car, I just enjoy driving it more. You are very correct in your statement that it takes an exceptional driver to extract 8/10ths out of z06, I'm sure I'd need alot of seat time to even come close. If the improvements in the 08's are true, then my opinion will easily be swayed. I would love nothing more than the steering feedback to be improved, it's my only complaint with the car. Well, I take that back the seats aren't the greatest either but that's an easy fix.

I haven't posted anything on the corvette forums because I wanted to avoid any negative publicity for LG. They have been very good to my father and I over the years, and as with any story there's always another side. It's very easy to point fingers when something like this happens, it's just impossible for us to accurately do so in this case.

The track I'm a member at is Motor Sports Ranch in Cresson, TX. I don't know the exact details from the others who lost motors since I'm not too active in the Corvette community. I was asking a track official about lap times for a C6 Z06 and that’s when I was told about people having problems with them. btw, Lou ran a 1:20 there in a bone stock Z06 with runflats. He's not an average driver though by any means. His race car will run 1:14's for a comparison with the same driver. A 1:20 in a stock production car at our track is just nuts.

Yeah Lou is a crazy good driver and he makes some pretty good long tube headers also which he has no problem telling you to

Your in TX. Lots of fast Vettes down there.

You'll get the hang of it....and get some seat time and good tires if you haven't already.

Your right the 08's are offered with some nice interior upgrades if you want a little luxury.

IMO, there's a lot to be said for slower, balanced cars. The Z06 (and 997 GT3) is retardedly fast, but the skill level required to extract that performance is well above most people who can afford to buy one. A car like the Cayman, while no slouch, is easier to drive fast and there's a certain reward in extracting all that it has to offer. Same holds true for the Miata, Elise, NSX, etc - not the fastest but very enjoyable to drive.
