Nissan GT-R lapped Nurburgring in 7:35 - beats SLR McLaren
Take note this is not the EVO version.
So are you sick of the Nissan GT-R coverage yet? Well to bad because we’re not. Motor Trend is now reporting that when the GT-R was lapping the Nurburgring, Nissan engineers recorded the best lap time at 7:35.
Reliable sources told Motor Trend that the Nissan GT-R beat the Porsche 996 GT2, Porsche 977 Turbo and the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. The 7:35 time of the Nissan GT-R is one second slower than the Koenigsegg CCR and two seconds slower than the Pagani Zonda F.
Nissan is still at the Nurburgring attempting to beat its own and other lap times. Earlier this morning we reported the official specs on the GT-R. The Nissan GT-R is powered by a 3.8 liter V6 engine that produces 473 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 mph takes a quick 3.5 seconds while top speed is 192 mph.

Road cars the Nissan GT-R must beat:
1. Porsche Carrera GT: 7 minutes/28 seconds
2. Porsche 997 GT2: 7 minutes/32 seconds
3. Pagani Zonda F: 7 minutes/33 seconds
4. Koenigsegg CCR: 7 minutes/34 seconds
What the Nissan GT-R has beat:
Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren: 7 minutes/40 seconds
Porsche 997 Turbo: 7 minutes/40 seconds
Chevrolet Corvette Z06: 7 minutes/42 seconds
Porsche 996 GT2: 7 minutes/42 seconds

Yawn. I call B/S on ALL the claimed 'ring times that have been going around for months now.
The Zonda F is a world class exotic that is 800lbs lighter with 180 more HP. Are you trying to tell me that only makes it 2 seconds faster than a GTR? Haha.
Additionally, we the chief engineer has already spoken:
So yeah, the GTR's chief engineer is an idiot or the claimed ring times are bogus.

Those times are driver-dependent, track-knowledge-dependent, weather-, traffic- and bunny-crossing-the-track dependent. But Mizuno suggested the GT-R could get anywhere from 7:44 on up, with most laps coming in between 7:55 and 7:58.

I'm fairly sick of people using the 'ring as a benchmark tool. It's a HORRIBLE reference point. Too long, too many turns, too many weather variables, other cars and motorcycles, and of course the driver variable.
Using the same driver, same day testing, do any of you really think the GT-R will hold a candle to the Zonda F, C-GT, or CCR? These cars are all lighter, have more horsepower, and vastly better aerodynamics. I guess it's fun internet bench racing, but it really shouldn't be used for bragging rights.
