How is the new Lancer? Seen one at Wal Mart yesterday. Look pretty close to the Evo pics I have seen.
FWIW Have you driven an Evo?
I have to agree on liking trucks. I could not part with my 96' Jeep GCL. Initial plan was to sell it after buying the Evo. Two things a: Evo I bought is waaay to nice to see salt. B: My Jeep is perfect for hauling my kids around daily. They can eat in it. Have snacks in it. The Evo they are very lucky to get drinks in it. lol
I am thinking my dad is averaging like 13 mpg. City and lead foot. Not stupid speeding but gets in it to get to the speed limit. Also I kow he drives pretty aggressive on his way to bowling. This happens couple nights a week. He will boogy around 75-80 on a country road. He own his own shop and is always running behind getting out of there.
Anyway so driving like a sports car owner would, I am saying these trucks will average 13-16. If you get a lot of highway then that is another story.
Throwing this out there to help original poster.

I previously owned a 2006 O.Z … so it was a nice transition.
The front end is defiantly what I fell in love with…very aggressive and evox looking imo.
HP wise…the car is very heavy, but the 152hp does a fine job...
(with the 08 lancer I can over take on the highway staying in 5th gear…compared to the 06 O.Z where I was ‘required’ to drop into forth just to get that extra kick)
As far as Driving an Evo goes…never had the chance…I live in Canada…

…I’ve driven an STI though!…

And I wish I could afford two cars at the same time!
I would defiantly store my Lancer indoors for the winter and have a big 4x4 truck to play around in when the snow falls!
As we speak, my Lancer is covered in ice…it hurts. lol

I don't see how EVO owners can say anything about gas mileage (especially those with modded EVOs).
The EVO is rated at 16/22 mpg: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/2008c...umn=1&id=21843
The 5.3L 2wd Silverado is rated at 15/20mpg: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/2008c...umn=1&id=23633
If the Silverado is a gas hog....so is the EVO!
AND THE EVO USES PREMIUM FUEL!!
The EVO is a gas hog!!!
I bet the new X will get even lower gas mileage with its extra 250-300lbs of heft.

Lets add up the yearly fuel cost using the above picture and the combined MPG average of both vehicles.....
If you drive 12,000 miles per year, the EVO will cost $2,200 per year in fuel.....
The Silverado will run you $2,160....
As you can see, an EVO's fuel bill is more than a big truck.
