What do you guys think of the Jeep Patriot? I've never own a Jeep in the past. My family & relatives pretty much stick with Japanese cars.
$15k for an SUV with 172hp & estimated 28m per gallon(hwy) sounds like a very good deal.
Does anyone know if there's a catch to this?? besides, its not for real Off-road enthusiast & crappy (plastic) interior. How about the maintenance to these vehicles? do they last? yes, i maintain my cars regularly.
Please share your insights from jeep whether its POSITIVE (+) or NEGATIVE (-)

the catch is…15k = FWD…
JEEP + FWD = FAIL!
if you buy a jeep…4x4 is the only way to go…but don’t expect the Patriot to be an off-road warrior…that’s the wranglers job.
I’m sure the Patriot would be just fine as an urban-warrior though…
plus, jeep offers some crazy lifetime warranty now don’t they?...so that’s would be a plus side
...meh

as a huge jeep fan, i dont consider the patriot a jeep. sure its got the seven-slat grille, but the similarities end there.
i have owned several real jeeps. so has the rest of my family. i think my father, brother and i combined owned 12 over the years ranging from cherokee (xj my favorite) to wj (99-04 grand cherokee) a liberty and a few wranglers. they were all bulletproof and dependable. several lasted well over 120k

yea the FWD...i cant afford any brand new RWD or AWD right now so i have to settle with FWD.
i dont really off-road. the reason im asking this, i was thinking of getting a regular lancer(not GTS). now, if you like outdoors...for ex. mountain biking...wouldnt you agree that jeep patriot ftw?
im trying to keep my budget less than 18k too!

120k? thats it? i was hoping a vehicle that can last to 200k miles. or that depends on the maintenance?

The lack of 4wd is a turn off. It dosen't have good fuel consumption and it is not very good off road.
There are probably better options out there depending what you are looking for.
Too each is own..
Honestly the suzuki sx4 is not a bad deal if you want 4wd for 15k.
the patriot is still new so nobody will really know how they hold up in the long run.

everything i have read gave it positive revue's. i have a 06 wrangler unlimited for about six months now. i wasn't too impressed at first but as soon as winter hit here in chicago i love it. the patriot will be a dog with that four cylinder though. i have the inline six (last of a great motor) and it is slow. go for a test drive and let us know what you think. be prepared for it to not hold it's value.

im looking for a new vehicle and my concerns are, less than 18k, 25m pr gal, and dependable. i just came across jeep patriot when i was looking for my next car online.
120k? thats it? i was hoping a vehicle that can last to 200k miles. or that depends on the maintenance?

120k and we got rid of them. had no problems wit them but it ws just time for those jeeps to go. personally i have seen xj tj and zj jeeps with both the oldschool inline six as well as the newer v8s put down over 250k
if you want a car for good mileage, get a honda fit or somethign like that. jeeps arent meant to be fwd gassippers. its a crime against humanity that this car exists.
o, and my last wrangler (04 rubicon) was like 32k. so yea they get over 30 grand
