'99 tiburon tranny problems!!

My mother in-law has a '99 tiburon with a 4 cyl. auto. When the car gets anywhere between 50 - 80 km/hr when the car goes to shift gears it kind of slips out and you have to let the rev's come down to kick back in and continue driving. (kind of like split shifting a semi) Any clues as to what is doing this?

Don't know the answer to that question but pm my friend SharkDemon. He and his brother owns a tiburon and he should be able to help you out on that.

You could also go to NewTiburon.com for more info from some Tiburon expert.

one of your clutch bands may be bad or maybe even your pump (if your tranny is your typical auto). How many miles on her? It probably needs to come out either way.

Thanks for the insight. It's going to have to go to the dealer anyways, just figured I'd get her some info before she phoned and went there.

Tiburons are known for tranny problems. Everyone I knew who had one had to get it rebuilt or a new one around 50-70k.
