to the OP i see that you dont have your X tuned yet....get a tune and you will think differently. 10's respond better to boltons and tunes than the IX's ever did

For minimal $ and the RIGHT mods (i.e. no need for Garrett turbo upgrade) you can make your X as fast as the might GT-R. No S-AWC in the Evo9, correct? The stock GT-R runs 3.3 0-60 and 11.5 in the 1/4 mile (if straightline concerns you) and GT-R is faster than the 2007 Porsche Twin Turbo around the Nurburgring (if track turns concern you), so the EvoX modified does well in comparison.

Don't get me wrong guys..... I love my X !! Its a great car..... but after 5 years at a promising job in the automotive business , I was laid off a month ago and lookin to cut cost but not give up on all the joys in my life!
I was thinkin about the 9 but like a few of you said , I'm not sure about the trade value and weather or not it would work in my favor but was just kicking the idea around .....

The IX was the last of the 4g63 and was "perfected" through the Evo's time with the ct9a chassis. You really can't go wrong with a IX as far as reliability and the many different directions of build types.

I love the X and I am familiar with what it's currently capable of. I just don't see ME getting in one until it's really stood the test of time although it does look promising. Maybe the 2012 will feel right in my case...

If it's just money you are looking to save you may want to keep your X if you're going to be upside down on the loan.... Tough decision to make man..

A fella here just got an 06 IX and I admit I had a brief lightbulb flash as well until I sat in the IX. The interior of the X is nothing to brag about but sitting in the IX felt like I was sitting in a 90's car. Also the dated 90's exterior styling is starting to really show it's age on the VIII and IX's. That said I'd love to have one as a second car.

Yah, I've considered getting a salvaged evo viii/ix to make a pure time attack car out of it. Honestly though, it'd be too much work. I think I'm going to follow the path of edmunds for now with my X and build a trackable X that can be a DD even though I work at home.

i would not trade the 8 and 9's will become a thing of the past and will be in more demand as time goes on, there will become less and less of them and before you know it the 8's and 9's will hold smiler value to the supra s and rx7's just my two cents !
