The 2008 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbocharged. I just read the article on Inside Line. man, where did this thing come from? I haven't even heard anything about it and then, BAM! it's a "handling dream" and is faster than a MS3. Check out the article:

BTW, did you see the Evo reference? Gotta love that "always on full kill."

They have some misinformation in that article. You can flat shift the MS3. The 0-60 times are incorrect. From my own data logs I have seen 5.6 seconds (stock). I have yet to test it in a quarter mile. A big problem with these articles is the driver doesn't know how to properly drive the MS3 and they don't turn off the traction control and stability control. With those off, the car peforms so much better. Also the power in the MS3 grossly goes away above 5900rpms. Hence if you shift around 5700, it is a rocket. It will be interesting to see how the the new Colbalt SS does against the MS3. I personally will go test drive one just to see what kind of car it really is. It is about time Chevy did something with that car. I almost bought an 07 SS, but it felt weak.

pretty good car. 5.8 to 60, and a 14.0 in the 1/4 ain't bad. but the crasiest part it a 69.2 slalom for a FWD....good thing they kept the Evo around
BTW is a
turbo in it?

Anyone know the numbers for a Saturn Redline? I've got mixed info, but they seem comparable w/the Cobalt SS. Also, they can be bought for $13,000 for an '06, which is pretty cheap.

"We're serious. GMPD created a "No-Lift Shift" software algorithm that kicks in when you're at full throttle and press in the clutch. It manipulates the engine's variable cam phasing and retards the ignition timing so the cylinder contents burn later in the cycle than they usually would, creating more energy to help the turbocharger maintain boost. "
sounds like a little timing retard anti-lag to me...
