I guess I should have qualified "beater" as a car that will last a year without costing me more in repairs than I spent on the car itself.
Drove a local 1 owner 2003 Focus SVT four door with 68,000 miles yesterday. The owner is a die-hard Ford fan and just recently bought a GT500 and already had a Ford Lightning PU. He has done a little bit of work on the focus himself and seems to have alot of knowledge concerning his Ford vehicles. He installed a Jacson Supercharger and a few other mild mods along with quality guages. He had it dyno'd at 220 whp on a conservative 6 psi boost setting. The vehicle is in almost perfect condition inside and out. The only flaws seem to be 4-5 small rock chips on the front bumper/front of hood. He is asking $10,000 but says he has room to work on the price. What do you guys think about $8,000 as an offer? The KBB private owner value in excellent condition with all his options (it is fully loaded including cold weather package) is $8,500 or so. He has all the parts to return the vehicle to stock. I know that it is no Evo but it ran pretty well for a Focus. 220 whp + 3,100lbs = not too bad. What do you guys think? Any known issues with the Focus SVT's?
Thanks
