Dangit... wife likes the look of the A5 but can't even find one to test drive (there was an S5 to sit in at least [was sold already]). Plus you have to wait 90-120 days to actually get one.
335i has 0.9% financing (basically free money) and there's actually one in town that's optioned close to what she wants. It's also faster (not that she gives a flying **** about that).

if its really gonna be your wifes car and she doesnt care about speed, just save the money and get her an optioned out 328i coupe. She would never know the difference and you could use the money for something else the both of you might need

Truer words have been spoken, right here.

S5 or A5 (w/S-Line) - WAY more beautiful than the 335i
The front of that car is amazing - the lines!!!!!!
Besides - she'll be pissed that you didn't wait when she sees the Audi on the road.
The Audi is turning heads.

I agree completely, if you plan on driving the car and want a great performance car get the 335i. But honestly if its only going to be driven by your wife you can get the same car essentially in the 328i just with a cheaper price and smaller engine. Then you can surprise her with a Tiffany's box in the glove compartment

Oh I've thought about a loaded 328i, but to get one like that you have to order it. No dealer's going to order a 328 like that. 328s are for posers (mostly), so here they come with auto and *maybe* HIDs.
S5 is out due to price and MPG (might as well get an M3 for the price of the S5). A5 would be with the S-line of course (so basically an S5, but without the gas guzzler engine).
ETA:
I would be driving the car, but likely the family would be in it, so I would be "driving" the car, not DRIVING the car

I'll be honest, I like both but also I will tell you the Audi has better interior quality. If you wife does not care about performanc then the 328i will be suficcient, the 328i looks great and is cheap.
The Audi A5 and S5 are more expensive than the 335i but I am sure the BMW has better warranty as well (4 years everything covered including fluids, blets, brake pads).
If you are looking for modding the car then the BMW will make much more power with less money. As I said in the begining both are awesome cars.
I owned a modded BMW 335i white coupe that I miss everyday. Try the 135i is you want to go fast for cheap, it is currently the best seller along with the 335i.

Carlos, my wife likes the look of the 1, but she had a hard time getting our car seat into the back seat (and no problem with the slightly larger 3 [haven't been able to test the audi, but since it's bigger than the 3 it shouldn't be an issue]).
Here's basically how it breaks down for me:
- BMW wins the price war (between the service and the initial price)
- Audi wins the looks department
- Driving around here is like driving in a sea of BMWs (literally). This is one reason I didn't buy an E46 M3 when I bought my Evo (I've yet to see another Evo X except for at meets or the track).
- BMW dealers here in Dallas tend to shy on the SUCK side. The Audi dealers have been *very* nice.
But... I can't test drive the A5. Not gonna spend 50 large on a car without a test drive.
From a looks perspective, the Audi wins, but bang for the buck? BMW. Between the maintenance and the lower initial cost it seems that the BMW wins that way.

2 options:
1) get the BMW that you want, and end up in the dog house
2) get the Audi she wants, and end up in the dog house anyways because of some other BS
Option 1 looks pretty good to me
Just make sure you test drive the 335 pretty thoroughly to be sure you like it, the motor is nice but the chassis is meh
