Supras can also be made fast to go around turns.

Having owned both the Supra and an Evo, I can say that the Evo was more fun to drive hard around town. The Supra was nicer to cruise in with the targa off. The Supra was also the one you wanted to be in when you pulled up next to a C6 Corvette at a stop light.
The Supra will always look awesome imo. But what many people love about it is the way that the stock engine and 6-speed transmission can handle around 800HP without any strengthening. Actually, they have not found a limit to the amount of HP that the transmission can handle as long as it does not get abused.

And Supras are not just straight line wonders. They stick to the pavement very well. Its just that you do not get the confidence that you have when cornering in an Evo. You just feel like the Supra could go sideways at any moment even though it probably won't.

Well said and answers the question in full

supra's horsepower potential is on a whole different level than an evos... i mean yea there are some wicked evos out there but i've seen a 1500 hp street legal supra and 1000 hp for a supra is much more common than an evo... its the 2jz motor... its like a rock

^^ O no im not pointing fingers.. just saying i have seen some comments in here that pretty much say a EVO is BETTER than a supra...any car will have better qualities than others.. but when it comes to build quality a evo doesnt touch a supra... evo is the better car for the money tho...

put it like this

the titan supra is sitting next to the?? i dunno ??? apr widebody evo... 9 out of 10 people are driving that titan supra.

Yeah...one of the reasons I asked this question here is because I was told id never touch a supra and im a firm believer in money talks haha. Personally I like my evo a lot, my buddy has a supra and I like that car too but I just didnt like getting told I couldnt do something in a game where once you become a better driver its all about what you are willing to put in. Not to mention there arent many fully maxed out supras around here anyways haha. Im also not building a full racecar with a parachute in the back either but I am aiming for a machine I can take to the track on weekends or keep it on the street even though I dont street race or anything. This car is my toy so im just lookin to have fun with it.

I'm sure they can be made to handle very nicely, but compared to the Evos, STIs, RX-7, and the GT-Rs it is at the bottom of the list in handling potential. Out of that list the Supra will cost the most to be made to handle better and out of the box it is the worst handling car.

Supra's have the recipe to make oodles of power that has been honed over the years, but you ask yourself some questions:

700whp is great and all but with the associated turbo lag, cost, and more importantly few roads that can contain that power the car is rendered a strictly a highway machine.

A car that can beat motorcycles and exotics on the highway is awesome, but how many of us go over 100MPH regularly?

Unless you're a into illegal highway roll racing or hardcore drag racing IMO, a 700whp car is very impractical.

I also think calling a Supra godly is a bit of a hyperbole; with the amount of money to make a fast Supra, other cars (e.g. Vettes, Vipers, Mustang Cobras) can be made just as fast.

The only major differences are that Supra's are so much rarer compared to Vettes, Vipers, and Mustangs and that the Supra is probably the one Japanese car available stateside that can consistently run with the super tuned domestics and exotics.

Those two alone make the Supra a unique and badass car but not godly; when I think godly I think Veyron .

Supras are maybe not godly but there is a lot of miss information in this thread

VincentX you obviously don´t know anything about Supras. They handled very well completely stock. The Supra pulled a 0.98 lateral G on the Skidpad when it came out. And was faster then RX-7 , GT-R, NSX, 3000GT VR-4 , 300ZX, 993 carrera etc. around a track

Best Motoring Battle MR2, RX7, Supra, R33 GTR, NSX, 993 Carrera and NSX-Targa

And just for fun. Wasn´t really a battle because of the rain. All cars modified Supra vs Rx7 vs Evo

And some other facts

A stock bottom end in a Supra has been pushed to over 1000+whp

Many Supras with a stock bottom end are going strong for many miles with 800-1000whp

The most i´ve seen a 6-speed supra with a built engine dyno is 1533rwhp / PM/Boostlogic Supra which has gone 8.49@172.74mph // 3650lbs

The most i´ve seen a 2JZ-GTE put out on a engine dyno is 2041 hp
dyno vid

A Supra still holds the record in a standing mile for a street car, which is
229.7mph
and that was right of the trailer with only 32 lbs of boost and no NOS, The record will probably be broken by another Supra soon
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=pAh1UziFfLE

All the fastest and most powerful 6 speed Supras in the world still have a completely stock gearbox. It can take huge amounts of power

The stock rear end and stock axles in a Supra are also very strong

Here is Darins 3.0 ltr 6 speed Supra. Stock 6 spd, Stock Axles, Stock rearend with a TRD LSD , IRS, Stock Crankshaft going 8.55@171.5mph / 3550lbs

Here is the current 6-spd Supra record holder BL/PM Supra , 3.4 ltr stroker, Stock 6spd, Stock Axles, Stock rearend with a TRD LSD, IRS // full weight 3650lbs going 8.49@172.74mph with a 1.36 60´ ft

Here is the Boostlogic Auto car going 7.75@186.57mph with a Stock IRS and Rear end, stock axles // 3100 lbs

Titan Motorsports Supra going 7.71@185mph, Stock IRS and rear end, stock axles
