Yeah, that's why I put it in a question form. I wrote it before I read the whole articles.

Well I really think that the Police can not pull you over just to scan your car. If they pull you over just to scan your car, would that be unlawful search and seizure?

I have no idea what it would be called because it wouldn't ever happen anyway.

Most cops don't even have laser guns for catching speeders, breathalyzers, tint measuring devices, or decibel meters for exhausts at their disposal most of the time. I'm sure they aren't going to have some device that plugged into your car and magically told them every time you did something wrong.

Unless they put some sort of gps tracking device into the black box as well they will never be able to give tickets for it. You can go 150 mph all day every day and without a cop pulling you over they can't give you a ticket. Why? Someone already said it: No witness to say where you've been. What's to say you didn't buy your GTR for the track? It is TOTALLY different than a speed camera, since a speed camera has speed AND location. No reason to be paranoid unless you're planning on getting in an accident (which is where I can see them using this). It will be SO much easier for police forces to determine the cause and the person responsible for an accident if everyone has this. Your last registered speed was 95 mph, his was 55, etc etc.

FYI, police officers/state troopers cannot pull over a moving vehicle without a probable cause, it is required by the law. But Cops do anyways without any reasons.

They've been talking about this little problem with the GTR for a while now. But like others said, I doubt they could write you tickets without some sort of GPS tracking to mate up to the speed history in the black box.

Ablack box in a car makes me a little nervous. Oh yea how is the gtr35 a rice rocket? It really isnt. A porsche has a v6. Seem like the lawyer is just hating because the new gtr car has a black box

would cop being able to access your ecu/blackbox violate your privacy because for a cop to search your car without u being drunk or smocking weed or something of that nature would require a search warrant.

i still think you are all paranoid. There would be too many variables to give you a ticket for speeding. Where were you located, did you accidently go over the speed limit without noticing, etc etc. I highly doubt any of the evidence would hold in court and it would take too much time for cops to pull everyone over and check. Now if this black box sent out a signal to the police then i would be paranoid.

The only time this will be useful is if you crash and well if thats the case you would be caught for speeding anyway

Honestly this country is getting ridiciulous with its poor economy, privacy invasion, government scare tactics, and everything else. In fact that's why I've been saving for the day I finish grad school so I can head off to London. My dad just moved to Spain and my brother is moving to Italy in less than a month.

Exactly. ima sell a couple houses when market gets better (buy now of course) then sell. then haul my *** to panama or costa rica. somewhere practically 3rd world that i can live for cheap and noone bother me.

This does not make any sense guys. Why would they do that on this car and not just on all the cars as a precaution? I would say disregard.
