I had two Evos and I really thought and still think they handled great, braked well and accelerated well. It is October 2008 and things have changed, GM released a Cobalt SS under their performance department.

People called it hype but here are a couple of other links in which the Cobalt SS already tie with the Evo 9 MR and with the Evo X MR. This makes it 3 sources now.

People(lmcarguy) still thinks that GM paid for altering the results, I don't know nor I have any source to confirm or deny but here are the links in which you can see the Cobalt SS tie (more less)with the new X MR and old Evo IX MR. Love it or hate it but I am just the messenger. If you ask me, I'd take an Evo but I must say GM did a heck of a job on the Cobalt FWD.

Summary:

Evo X MR 3 min 13.3 sec
Cobalt SS 3 min 13.0 sec

Laguna Seca Raceway

Evo X MR 1 min 47.13 sec
Evo IX MR 1 min 47.927 sec
Cobalt SS 1 min 47.751 sec

The Cobalt seems to be the real deal and I've also heard GM has a stage 1 kit coming out that will bump the power to 315hp WITH the factory warranty still intact.

Watch out X owners.
