Every publication has stated it's direct injection so far;

Open deck... Ouch. Weaker internals, 2 bolt main bearing caps instead of 4 like the evo, the list goes on and on. Hell, the detuned and smaller cammed ralliart engine is closer to the 4b11 in the evo than the theta 4 is. Hey, I'm all for development on this new genesis coupe, but I don't know if it's really going to benefit the X because aside from having more piston upgrades, there really isn't very much that will transfer from one to the other. We'll see I suppose...

Genesis = $22k+ turbo 2.0 210hp
EvolutionX = $33k+ turbo 2.0 291hp
Im pretty sure that $10k+ you just saved will knock you over evo x power and beyond. But you could also spend that Genesis amont and get a cobalt ss turbo with 260hp. Genesis just looks much better.

I was also thinking the evo block swap theory, would it work in theory to just swap bottom ends.

Ugh, threads like this give me a headache. The genesis is a neat car, but will NEVER be an evo competitor. The 300 hp NA 6 might give an evo a run for it's money on the track, but won't have squat for power potential compared to the evo unless you want to spend 8k on a turbo conversion kit, and even then it's still an open deck block. It's the 350 z all over again, but with an even weaker engine. As for the 2 liter cousing to the 4b11, it shares the basic block design but that's it. It's NOT cast the same, and is EXTREMELY different.
OPEN deck, not SEMI CLOSED like the 4b11 in the X, 2 bolt main bearing caps instead of 4 like the evo, weaker internals, different head that I can guarantee isn't as good as the evo's, the list goes on and on. This all adds up to an engine that won't make as much power as the one in the evo, and an engine that will pop at much lower power levels as well. The only redeeming qualities are that it's lighter and, disgracefully, has a far nicer interior. It is a cool car, but more of a ralliart competitor than anything.

I'm not even going to bother responding to this. Read the post right above this one and then rethink your stance.

Cool car, but not enough to want me to drop the evo from the roster. It is also the base model...The best way to buy would be the 3.8l v6. I wonder if any of the rental companies will have these in their fleets?
