the scirrocco will NOT be coming here. And yes they are bringing the 2.0L fsi turbo. It is the R20,it has the haldex AWD and a 270 hp engine from an audi s3.Its a 2 door.It also is gonna be a mk6 so it has the new bad *** body style.I am for sure gonna buy it when it gets here.I am a vw enthusiast/mechanic.They are by far my favorite cars. They also have the scirrocco r20 in the uk,but it will be fwd.The quality of craftsmanship in new vw's is ridiculous. The interior makes my EVO seem like a dinosaur.Even my 1990 corrado has heated seats.not to mention that in 1990 vw was making a real tuner car like the rado which has a supercharger, and then the vr6 engine.Even in 83 the gti rabbit was unmatched. All the jdm guys always claim this and that, truth is vw/audi's cars would smoke any honda of its day in all ways.they are the first sport compact tuners BAR-NONE!

Mini cooper (once they start offering awd), is the only car that comes to mind, that could be under 2800lb, while still offering awd ....

The Cooper S already weighs over 2600 lbs w/ FWD. 2950-3000 seems more likely for AWD.

The main reason it wouldn't come to the US is because it is 100% made/built in Germany, unlike other models like the Rabitt which has the engine made in Barsil and the rest is between Mexico and Germany.

VW hit the jackpot with the current GTI(MKV) it is continuosly being nominated as the top ten cars. The scirocco has to fight its place against the GTI, I personally like the Scirocco more than the GTI but like I said before it is not imported right now for financial issues, it would cost close to $40 to bring it here.

The Mini cooper S (R56) in my most honest opinion lost most of the sales due to the absurd, ridiculous and ugly flavor flave 15" speedometer in the middle of the dash. i would not ever ever ever buy that car as long as it has that nasty out of place/out of context/out of design speedometer. It is ugly as f-u-kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!

It was painful enough to see the speedometer on the R53, looking at the speedometer on the R56 totally makes me not even seat myself in the driver seat, I swear to God.(I am not kidding either).

The R56 by the way has been decafanaiteda whole lot, it is not the hardcore handling machine as the R53. Better gas mileage yes, cosmethically, not .

Can you elaborate on your comments?

Uhmm.. it makes me wonder how all the sudden two out the 5 best ever sold cars in the history of cars are VW.

here is more:

People like you reflect abstract knowledge of cars, never backing up statements, always guided by personal opinions. Don't you think if VW had that bad reputation people wouldn't from them? I have had 6 VW(2 Cabriolets, 1 GTI VR6 ,1 jetta, Jetta GLI and 1 GTI). If someone were to ask me if I recommend them I probably would, they are decent cars, I wouldn't said they are a plague.

I have had about 12 Mitsubishis as well(2 Evos, 2 Stealth 5 Eclipses, 3 mirages), I wouldn't say they are a plague either. Each car has lows and highs but generalizing like you do reflects your poor judgement(no judgement at all).

I'm not very fond of VW's, but that is one nice car. If they brought it over, it'd probably be the only V-Dub I like.
